There is also the self-shame you should feel in letting your capital fall to the pigs from another clan...like I did.

It's kinda annoying as Chosokabe whenever I get agents injured/arrested or I get new heirs. I have to ship them to the mainland to be of any use.

I think in some cases they have it easy, because you always have fleets close by there (at least I do) and you can then ship the agent in 2 turns to pretty much anywhere you'd need if your strategy is to win over the Shikoku and start taking the other isles from the western side.

If you are the Date for instance, you might have a long trek to get anywhere useful.

I'm finding this out right now. The Imagawa take a perverse joy in shipping an army all the way around the back.

One could relocate their capital in Medieval 2, but I don't think it's an option in Shogun 2.

Capitals give the option to become vassals when you capture them, normal provinces dont.

Hmmm ... this isn't entirely true. Let's say you're fighting the Takeda (and doesn't everyone?). If they have provinces they're holding when you conquer their home province, you will *not* be offered the option of a vassal. Personally, I love to use vassal states as buffers for when I need to take a breather, so I've learned the hard way that sometimes you get the option, and just as often you don't, 'cause the clan that would yield a vassalage is holding an island somewhere.

@Lemur, youre right. If the clan still exists somewhere else in the game you cant create a vassal in their home province, not least because then you'd end up with (say) 2 takeda clans.

Regardless, capital provinces are the only ones to give the option - you'll never get the vassal option in a non-capital province.

Practically every province is the capital of some clan, right?

I think the majority of provinces are some clans capital, but there are a bunch of AI clans that start with with more than 1 province.
Like in Kyushu there are 5 clans but 8 provinces.
