    Default most epic campaign ever

as the date i launched a campaign for control of the island of sado. I brought a stack of two no dachi, 3 katan, and 8 yari archers. i faced as usual two stacks of chevroned units (its vh/vh)

so i land and am immediately besieged by a full stack. i defeat while incurring decent casualties among myself maybe a quarter of losses. Then the other stack attacks me as well. I defeat this as well but lose half of my remaining troops. Im down to about a quarter of a stack and he has a full one. so im like crap but okay strategic retreat. but no he sinks my fleet with ease. Im stuck here and i cant just auto resolve in resignation i have the daimyo's brother date sanemoto and another loyal general! so i decide to fight on. Next turn im attacked and i fight valiantly only persevering because the enemy daimyo falls to my generals blade. however, my junior general dies and im down to 3 men (of ten) in sanemotos unit. I also lose half of my remaining stack. However, the honma are down to about a half stack. I wait the next and i hold my position. They proceed to attack once more. I defend my soil and once again am hit with grevious losses but they are almost destroyed. I am down to about 10% of my men. They have around a quarter stack. I destroy them in the field next time once again on defense and they re severly weakened.

I make the move to besiege thme but do not attack. After that its just rinse and repeat mass routs of them until they have all perished.

Then they are down to one unit of yari ashigaru and one full archer. i have about 60 men left at this point. I win the siege assault but in the process lose every man except for date sanemoto himself.

just had to share with everyone.

Wow, incredible that you survived and won with no backup. Did you take some screenshots? Would be great to see them. But what are Yari Archers?

However, this made me think, how could an army cut off from any supply and friendly territory survive a full year in enemy territory without starving to death... Not taking anything from your epic achievement though, I can only dream to repeat something like this. Thanks for sharing.

Forage, requisition from the local peasantry, commandeering supplies? This is modelled with attrition in winter, upkeep, and the "devastation" factor in town happiness.

oops sorry i meant ashigaru archers. it was one in the morning.

unfortunately no screenshots. im not sure how to take them and dont have any programs like fraps anyway.

tbh i didnt think i would have survived anyway until i actually took the city.....

unfortunate bit is next turn there was a tough decision the mogami who are my vassals were attacked by the satake also my allies who have like 8 provinces............... i had to break with the mogami so my diplomacy is probably dying right now. and im trying to hold down a rebellious province with nothing but the daimyo's brother himself.

Takeda Shingen and another general of mine, two full stacks against three full stacks of the Honma clan (how in the world did they get 3 stacks...).

Epic battle. Somewhere around 3000 deaths for me and 4000 for Honma, I cracked their defence and took the castle the next turn but it was a HUGE loss of troops for me just to get one damn province.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Never make vassals, they always end up in the most absurd wars. A free unit and 50% taxes from a province is not really worth it.

Lower taxes if you want to hold it or just pillage the province and take it back later.

Steam can take screenshots with f12 (I think). Press shift+tab ingame to see the overlay.

Personally I think once you've hit about 10+ provinces, at least 2 vassals is a very good thing to have. You're getting very close to realm divide and having 2 trade partners is better than none
