What about simply using half-speed? I love that option, and I use it frequently when I'm getting cute with my tactics. It nerfs archers too, so I think it is a good compromise. What would be perfect would be a 75% speed option I think.

The battle speed is rather fast in my opinion. It appears to me to be faster than RTW but I may be wrong in that. however, there is a mod available at the TWC site that reduces combat speed and provides several variations. This is nice as you choose to keep cav speed slightly faster than infantry. Also it is stand alone so you don't have to use Darth or other more extensive mods if you don't wish to.

its somewhere between MTW2 and RTW its fast but not game breaking. ive started playing MP for first time and althoguh i do find myself frantically tryign to pause at times i am still able to i assume you mean kill speeds when you mean the sped of battles and in this respect it is faster than MTW2 but not as bad as RTW when units just dissolved under a charge. even ashigaru will hold for a few short time under a charge so that you can at least get some support units in there.
