Favourite daimyo

Not necessarily from Shogun and Shogun 2 but also in real life, who do you prefer the most and I would like posters to explain why you prefer that particular daimyo.

For me, it has to be Takeda Shingen. Not only was he a very capable commander, his clan flourished under his command and also aided the development of the lands under his clan, thinking not only about the warfare but also about his people so much so that he has a dedicated shrine in Kofu prefecture built in his honour (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeda_Shrine).

Who is the daimyo you respect the most?

It's got to be Hideyoshi for me. I'm a sucker for the underdog and the little guy. It was a shame he couldn't rightly be Shogun. Also, don't know how historically accurate it is, but his characterization in the book Taiko impressed me.

Uesugi Kenshin, for how he looks in game and because

Kenshin is famed for his honourable conduct, his military expertise, a long-standing rivalry with Takeda Shingen, his numerous campaigns to restore order in the Kanto region as the Kanto Kanrei, and his belief in the Buddhist god of war — Bishamonten. In fact, many of his followers and others believed him to be the Avatar of Bishamonten, and called Kenshin god of war.

Kenshin and Shingen would probably be tied for second for me.

Shingen and Kenshin, to me, are the best and most honourable example of adversaries who respected each other greatly. Two great men.

When Shingen died in 1573, Kenshin was said to have wept aloud at the loss of so worthy an adversary, and dismissed advices from his retainers to use the opportunity to attack as childish. Shingen, on his deathbed, commended Kenshin as an honourable warrior, and instructed his son to rely upon Kenshin.

Almost impossible to pick between Kenshin and Shingen for the reasons stated above... Though I have to go with Shingen for that his time was cut short, yet he accomplished so much.
