Woohoo! I'll try this again as soon as I can and post back. By the way I have three working saves in LTC now. If I can get three in SS then we can all take a look at all six and vote on which mod and starting position to use.

I got this to work in SS. I'm not crazy about the starting position so I'm going to run it again a few more times and post a selection here.

What I'm doing is letting the AI play all factions for us for the 100-odd turns until the Mongols invade. Then I will take control of the Mongols, set the other factions so they are human-controlled, and we can start the game.
There are different outcomes in terms of the starting position for all the factions each time you run the game this way - different factions are powerful, own different territories etc.
So I propose to provide a selection of starting positions for everyone to consider and vote on.
Then we can agree VCs and work out how to allocate the non-Mongol factions to different players.
Then I'll do some balancing work to iron out weird things like some factions being hugely in debt and others having stacks of cash, and we'll be away.
