It's a fair cop: there is nothing in the FAQ about why the Guild has restricted posting permissions for newer Members. I'll get to it one day, but until then, I believe Ludens and Gregoshi do an admirable job of explaining why the Staff feel it's necessary. Hmm, now I think about it, I might just cannibalise their posts!

I'm glad you found it useful. I keep meaning to get round to completing/updating this thing, especially to take advantage of some of the newer board features which will allow easier navigation within the guide itself.

New members can now reply, start topics and search in all game related forums. The Faq forums are an exception of course, because the aim is to keep those very compact and organised, noone but the moderators there can start a topic (if you feel something is missing, just PM them). Starting and voting in polls is only possible in the EH.

Forums in the Miscellaneous category are still closed for posting. Exception is the watchtower where new members can start and reply to their own topic, naturally as they can experience problems with their accounts too.

There is a but though. The EH is here for several reasons, and we won't just throw them away. The flood value in the EH is 1 minute for starting a new topic and 30 seconds for a reply. So, if you are new and need a lot of help and/or converation, this is the place to go. Flood in all other forums is 10 minutes for starting a topic and 5 minutes for a reply. When you try to post, a message will tell how much longer it takes before you can submit.

This is hopefully a system that works for us all, there's also a downside though. New members will 'dilute' more in the forums, making it harder for staff to spot and thus making it longer to promote. I'm sorry for that inconvenience.

    Enjoy together.

I just wanted to say the google search for CA posts does not work.

To find CA posts you have to search by CA member.

Hmm, it seems something has changed about the way Google formats the site when it's indexing it. Previously it would have "avatar" sandwiched inbetween username and the usergroup, e.g. "Caliban's Avatar. CA". This meant that "Avatar. CA" would pick up on CA posts. However, perhaps with the move back to the MTW skin, or a board upgrade, the Usertitle and Usergroup (both usually CA in the case of CA staff) are being indexed one after the other above the avatar. This is a little strange, as when I manually select the MTW skin, it has the usertitle below the avatar, the same as with the RTW skin.

I'll try to search for another motif that differentiates CA posts from other Members, but I guess it's not a biggie these days now that we have the search engine back. As Ludens mentions above, we were without it for extended periods in the past, and much of the current search section was written when the board search was completely offline. As you say though, now all you need to do if search by their username. I suppose we could start to compile a list of CA staff members, past and present, with their positions/games worked on, e.g.:

    Hi therother,
May I suggest that you add links to this useful source of technical information and this list of vB Codes. Perhaps it could help new members learn how to use the codes. Thanks, cheers!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but how come there aren't any Alexander: TW avatars? Have they just not been uploaded,or do I have to become a senior member to use those?

As far as I know, no avatars unique to R:TW Alexander avatars have been uploaded. I'm not aware that Alexander had any portraits different to standard R:TW, which may be why they may not be locatable.

Somebody needs to dig up the portraits and format them to fit the ORG standards, ie resize and frame. Tricky Lady was the hero to do it for BI portraits; another one for Alex avatars is needed, if indeed Alex came with a new set of portraits.

I may have overlooked this in the FAQ,but how do you add the phrases that appear beneath posts? I've got one I'd like to add to my own posts (don't worry,it's not duragatory, profane,or demeaning).

Click the 'User CP' button, the first one on the bar at the top of page...

Then select 'Edit Signature' - it should be at top of list on left.

Just read the FAQ's, I am new here but not in the MP community. So I have alot of catching up to do. I may from time to time ask some questions. So bear with me as I stumble my way around here.

No worries, man; ask away. We try to keep the FAQ thread as uncluttered as possible, though, so you should probably start a separate thread for most questions.

You have to wait for promotion, don't ask for it unless you have been active in the forums, posting friendly, burning camels, posting without L33t Speakz, burning camels and don't post spam!

Did I say that you have to burn camels?
