Nice response so far, I'll leave it open a little while longer and then we'll start things.

If there's anybody you know who plays and hasn't signed up yet, bug them!
Are you sure 2 mafia is sufficient for a game with potentially 40 players?
At two kills per night (three per full cycle), presumably a night start:
38 to begin day one
35 to begin day 2
32
29
26
23
20
17
14
11
8 (last lynch if two living)
5 (last lynch)
2 (game over)
That's a lot of lynches to live through for mafia, but it's pretty much how all the games have been, isn't it? Mafia victory is not expected.
S'pose you're right. Can't remember whether the game Subotan and I played mafia had 30 or 40 to start with. Either way we got wrecked by Day 8.

Little newcomer here: count me in!
I wanna play...

The early lynches aren't very dangerous. It's very easy for folks to skate through several rounds unharmed with that many players.
Which is funny, because the scums seem to have been losing one of their players early in the past couple large vanillas. Just bad luck I suppose.

That's assuming a couple of things. First of all, that we'll get to 40 (I think we're going to fall slightly short - not that I mind, since the record amount of players in a game in the Mafia series has been 39). Second of all, that there are no kills via Wrath of God, which could cut out a lynch phase or two.
Surviving this as Mafia is difficult but not impossible. It's definitely a feat, akin to something like winning a Grand Slam, but it can be and has been done. Also worth considering is that White_eyes and Beefy survived a ghastly 10 and 11, respectively, lynch rounds before finally succumbing in Godfather 3, which was a similar game and had even fewer players.

Yeah, I forgot about the WOGs. What's the criteria for those, btw?

This.
Death to the sign-up-and-never-post players!

From the rules post:

In other words, if you do not want to experience the Wrath of God and be mod-killed, you had best just vote in every round.

That's why I am so envious of the players that are mafia now. The town can never tell if they are on the right track? Sign me up.
Godfather 3 was a lesson in never trusting statistics. IDK, how two players are going to make it though this beast but we shall see.
Edit:@Pizzaguy: Yeah, Sasaki really cleaned house that game...funnily enough it was scum-telling, not statistics and that was why I could not defend myself from him.

Mmm. I remember that game. One shining moment of brilliance from me, and then I became a big fat waste of time, and if people had listened to me, we would have lost.
FYI, I'm going to close signups in roughly 19 hours. So if you're on the fence, you don't have that much longer to sign up!

In this game, there will be posers pretending to be me. You must kill them.
Hey, that smiley face is animated. Neato.
Okay, signups are now closed. I'm going to randomly determine the mafia and then PM everybody with their anonymous account info. I'll post back here once this is complete.

They deserve our help and sympathies, not condemnation.

I will be one of the posers, in fact, no-one is safe! Prepare for Multiple Personality Disorder, Mafia style.
