Default Windows 7 (or something else)

I have a new computer with windows 7. I start to play Empire on it, but after a couple days playing windows told me there is a problem and closed down the game. After that i start playing Rome and i played it for 3 days now and now i got the same problem like in Empire.

    Someone knows what to do?

Getting R:TW to play on Windows 7 was a feat in itself as the only answer I can get to my own woes is that "the developers did not have a Windows 7 in mind when this game was developed. Theres not much you can do". What is the exact error message that you are getting?

I've got it working on Windows 7 with absolutely no problem, I just play it in compatibility mode for windows xp.

I recently bought and installed Rome TW Download, and Rome TW Gold Edition on DVD. No Problem for a few days playing the AI, but since installing Patch 1.3 and 1.5 in order to play in Multiplayer mode, i now get a message after a minute or 2 of play saying Rome Total War has stopped Working.
This happens now on both versions and in both play against AI and in Multiplayer mode.
My opperating system is Windows 7.

For the sake of clarity i have now uninstalled the Downloaded version, uninstalled the patch 1.3 and re installed the DVD version of Rome TW.
(I do not think that my attempt to install the 1.5 patch was ever successfull)
So now i only have the DVD version installed with no patches and still the error message appears after only a few minutes of play.

I play RTW on Windows 7. So far I've had no problems, though I've disabled UAC before installing and I run the exe as an admin. Always use the latest patch though, otherwise you'd get other CTDs that are related to unfixed bugs.
