Hi, guys... A quick word to let you know I'm not dead (yet... ) but I've moved to Haïti (yes, Haïti... not Tahiti !) so preparing and settling in has occupied a lot of my time and kept me away both from my comp and a fortiori from the .Org.

I'm sorry for those I let down in quitting so suddenly but everything was very hectic from the start and things are just starting to get more quiet.

I see the community still seems to be striving under the auspices of Phonics and Zim and I hope I'll be able to join you all back when I go back to civilization...

In the meantime, expect to see me passing through just to get a feeling of a place...

    See you

    Hey all,

Things in Haiti are just what you might imagine them to be... A country that thrives on foreign aid because it lacks in almost anything in matter of decent living conditions (there are still a lot of refugee camps... And I really mean a lot). Reconstruction is still at a standstill. Most people's lives here are lived in squalor but most manage to get by on the few they gain every day.

Some manage to live a western kind of life (and us lucky UN personnel among them).

But I try to focus on the good side of things : we get sun (and lots of it) every day and Haitian people are rather cool when you get to know them. Plus working in this international environment is a big plus.

    That's about it.

@Myth : I hope to be able to come back and give some of you young ones the spanking they deserve

    Cheers

hey guys, did anyone read tales from the throne room this time? was it any good? what did you like and not like about it?

it's hard to judge whether anyone actually reads it, even though it's on the front page. I had hoped it would draw people in but I don't think anyone has come here because of it...have they?

As for game, RTW or M2TW. In terms of mods, I personally like SS and EB a lot, but would be up for just about anything.

One idea I had for an unusual game though was playing the Americas campaign from the kingdoms expansion.
One player, or I, could act as the King of Spain, while other players play conquistadors who must curry favor with the king for rights to conquer land, financial support, etc...
All income would go to the King, and he could distribute part of it to players to simulate royal backing of their expedition. Ransom and sacking funds could go to individuals.

Individual players would have incentive to go on a rampage and make money off devastating the continent, while the king would try to keep them from letting natives simply take back everything they left behind, and from sacking things so badly that it no longer produces money.

That is just one idea though, and I would honestly be happy to run whatever people are most interested in doing. (unless it is S2TW, or Nap TW because I don't have those games)

I always thought EB was a perfect setup for rpgs. SS would be fun as well (personally, I'd be slightly more up for a medieval or America campaign setting, but good either way).

The Americas campaign sounds interesting, definately different from past ones. We also had a Teutonic Campaign once upon a time that I thought would work well for a short rpg.

I've always wanted an RPG based around Hungary

Have you seen the Magyar Mod? It would be great for that.

Also the Rus - Rusichi Total War could be awesome for that....or, indeed, you could seek Quirl's permission to revive The Black March which looked to be a killer idea
