    Default Do you dislike third parties?

    Being officially apart of a third party, Libertarian, here in my home state of Pennsylvania, I feel quite happy. Being a Moderate I am also quite happy. I myself have a strong hatred for the Democratic party and to be blunt, if it went away along with liberal nutjobs I be quite happy. I myself dislike the Tea Party also because I think it is full of conservative hacks.


    Do you hate 3rd parties and if so,why?

    I come from a multiparty system, and I'm extremely happy with that. So yes, I'm happy with the third party, and the 10th party as well.
    Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban

    That's not related. If a group is defined not by common ancestry but beliefs in certain politicies, and someone has rejected those beliefs, then clearly they aren't part of the group.

    I mean, come on. It's not rocket science.

    I think third parties would be a heck of a lot more useful if we did proportional representation, as some other nations do. But the U.S.A. is set up for a very strict winner-take-all electoral system, so anyone who can't scrape together 51% of the vote is wasting everybody's time. Which is a shame. I can easily imagine both the Green Party and the Tea Party achieving 10%–15% representation if we did proportional, for example.

    I love third parties in nations that use proportional representation. In nations that use plurality voting, they are pointless at best and injurious at worst.

    I love third parties cos it is around that time the real lunacy starts, you went to the first party around 7 had a meal few drinks around 12 ish you and a few others leave to go wherever and continue the night then round 5 it's time for the after party

    Sorry, but that has been bugging me for a while now.

    On topic:

    A two party system is virtually the same as a one party system because the binary nature of the choice removes the fear of the electorate which is the whole point of democracy, because the party out of power just has to wait until the part in power trips and then falls from power. Term limits in America just make the situation worse because it means you know an administration has a sell-by-date.

    Third parties are useful if they have a meaningful role to play. For example, in the current government of the UK (although sadly, many morons seem to be disillusioned by the Lib Dems not doing everything they said they wanted to do even though they are a junior partner in a coalition).

    If the "third party" is a mere 5% of the system and has no real influence on the big two then it is a waste, but I would prefer a system that is 40%, 40%, 20%.

    Personally I think 3th and 5th parties are overrated. The 4th party usually gets it just about right.
