Default A Country for Old Men [Concluded]

Since CB's game is about to start and I'm up next, not wanting to delay anything, I'll start taking signups now and if you have any feedback, feel free to give it, especially about the voting deadline. Any questions? Feel free to ask!

    A Country for Old Men

“Twenty-three bottles of beer on the wall, twenty-three bottles of beer, if one of those bottles should happen to fall; twenty-two bottles of beer on the wall” It had been going on for hours now and if he didn’t have to concentrate on the road, Jeff, the bus driver, would have buried his head between his hands long ago, trying to find shelter from this bunch of doters who were going to make his life miserable for the next few days. No, Jeff wasn’t sure he was happy with the assignment of taking this group up to Sesame Peak and taking care of them for a time of skiing and a Christmas celebration in the mountains. They had won this trip in a lottery held at a convention for elderly men and now they were on their way to the holiday of their lives.

What they weren’t aware of, was that some among this merry group did not exactly embark on this trip by coincidence. For some the coming week would be important, as they had their own agenda and they really didn’t need any witnesses.

But for now they were merrily singing, none of them expecting the evil that had infiltrated the group and none of them showing any sign of being part of anything other than a group of old men having fun annoying a bus driver. They were a group of various backgrounds, former professions and dwelling places from all across the country and some of them would surely have their little oddities and quirks but that was to be expected among older men.

They were still singing when the bus finally pulled up to the beautiful retreat center, hidden in the woods, built like a small chalet. It would be their home for the next few days and these days would become the most interesting days they ever had; for some they would surely be the last days.

    Rules:

    • There will be Mafia, Town and Neutrals
    • There shall be murders and other night actions
    • Everyone will have a personal goal besides their victory condition, the victory condition has to be fulfilled for the personal goal to have effect
    • Role Reveals are allowed, in private or public, forged or true
    • No quoting of Role PMs in Private, you can post quotes or forged quotes in the game thread
    • No screenshots of any kind
    • The Mafia will be granted cover roles, mass reveals will not solve the game
    • The dead cannot reveal their role, any former night actions or results and can only communicate about the game inside the game thread and over public knowledge
    • Any part of the writeups might contain important clues to solve this riddle
    • Role and alignment will be revealed upon death

There will be a zero tolerance policy towards extreme lurking. Not registering a vote for two consecutive day phases will make you eligible for the WoG unless I get a PM beforehand, announcing why you'll have to be inactive. Mafia will not be spared the WoG.

    Voting Procedure:
You may abstain but "No Lynch" is not an option
    vote: user for a vote
unvote for an abstain after voting
unvote, vote: user for a change of votes

All rounds will last for approx. 24 hours and will end at 11:00 PM CET which should translate to 5:00 PM US Eastern if I’m not mistaken. Voting will end at that point and votes after the deadline will not be counted, even if the writeup comes a bit later

Yeah, I saw your game TLD, but the deadline at 5 PM EST is problematic. I'm back from work around that time, three to four days a week, so I'm forced to make decisions when I wake up - if I did not snooze the clock too often . I can't play mafia like this, Sigurd's game was bad enough.

Yeah, I figured it could be problematic for some. I might be able to push it to 6 PM which should be midnight CET. Going further would mean that I need to do writeups late night and it would be more dofficult for european players to make decisive votes.

That said I'm very much open to suggestions towards the deadline issue.

I guess that I could live with a deadline at 6 PM EST, but if you're worried about the low signup count so far, I say don't worry - people should signup later, when it will be closer to starting.

I live in USA and don't think the deadline should be an issue. We'll just have to do our voting early in the Day phase.

If the pizza guy says mafia pizza tastes good, then mafia pizza would taste good and thusly must be tasted in order for the savory flavor of life itself to be understood in its most minute detail.

    Believer believes in this.

I will go away for the weekend starting tomorrow, I will miss anything that happens during those days.

Thanks for all the interest so far and thanks to the mod who moved this to the main gameroom

Also slight update of the rules.

I'm currently in the process of finalizing some balancing issues and, given that I have the signups full by then, I'll probably start the game beginning of next week.

Thanks, but they're mainly taken from the games I've played so far. Except the WoG thing, I guess.

Alright, sent out a few PM invites and I have to say, the limit of 5 recipients is a bit... limiting

Given the sign ups are full I'll send out Role PMs during Monday and start the game Monday night, 11 PM or Midnight CET.

Tell me if you think Midnight would be better than 11 PM. Sould translate to 5 PM / 6 PM US Eastern.
