Anybody else in on it?
Negative. Looks good though.
I'm still wary of DICE as they tend to release broken games that need a lot of patching before they are worthy of a play. Bad Company 2 was awful at release, but its not too bad now.
Also no mod support for dubious (well, CA-style) reasons.
I got in it. Going to download it tonight
Feedback from anyone involved will be much appreciated.
Well we have the general NDAs going on for us, so no screenies or pretty much any media of the game. I think we might be able to get away with describing it though.
There is a couple of game play videos up on youtube which haven't been removed, suggesting the poster is authorized to post them but so far it's hard to tell how it plays. Considering NDA and all I imagine you'll be able to answer this question.
Does it play like bad company or bf2? If its more akin to the bad company type game play I will be dismayed.
Its like, a great mix between CoD MW1 and BF2, with elements of BC2. :P Other than that, I think its great. I only played for about an hour before I had to goto sleep last night.
I have only one question about BF3: is there a commander position in MP?

Any more info on this?

Well, you can look it up. I remember an article on IGN (I believe) in which the makers stated that the commander function wouldn't return.
Edit:
Will Battlefield 2's Commander mode return?
If it does, DICE says it'll be in a much more limited, accessible form.

So technically: No
That to me kills a massive function of the whole team play function. Without a commander the best you can hope for is a bunch of individual squads (if they even allow that) uncoordinated in trying to achieve victory.
Very disappointing.

Agreed.

Great!
I heard Battlefield 3 isn't getting on steam, but on another digital distribution platform called Origins! (made by EA)
I love to make another account just like the O SO AWESOME Windows Live and Rockstar Games Social Club, which aren't annoying at all.
BC2 is already on Origins. Its not nearly as annoying as you think it is.

Still, it's a retarded choice.
EA loses customers by not bringing it on steam. Windows Live is manageable once you get your account, so will this.
Still, I hate to make another account. Which brings a lot of other poo too.
Got into Alpha and played a few hours.
Disappointing. Simply BC 2.5 with some really odd gameplay changes. Hope those are reverted before release, but have significant doubts. Subway map is incredible and without a doubt the highpoint of the experience. I wish more maps had been made like that in the previous game.
How does one get into the Alpha?

Maybe you should look it up.
It says to register for the newsletter and make sure your vet status is up to date.
I had both for a while now.
Went onto the BF3 alpha site, said I was denied for some reason. I think you need to be a vet of 3 BF games to be allowed in. I only have 2.
Looking at the gameplay videos... When did Battlefield become another Call of Duty?
That. Video. Looks. Amazing.
Cant. Wait. For. Jets.
