Thread: Placement of Nanban Trade Port & Quarter
RedKnight 19:01 08-06-2011
Would someone know if there's a way to influence where your Nanban places can go? The Trade Port seems to be offered to you by the game a number of times until you finally accept, but without control over where it appears (right?). Same thing for the Quarter (if you're Christian)?

Thanks if you can help! - RK7

I can confirm you do get a choice to where you can place the Nanban Trade Quater. I saw this happen with the Oda just yesterday, after I accepted Nanban trade. However, I was only allowed to chose between harbours which were upgraded to Trade Ports (I had two at the time). I also had captured a province with a Militairy port but I wasn't allowed to build a Nanban Trade Quater there.

The problem I think is, is that western great clans (Shimazu, Mori, Chesokabee) are much more likely to
a) come into contact with the Nanban early, at a time where you might not have multiple Trade Ports available, and the game choses the location itself.
b) western great clans are far more likely to capture one (or if you're lucky two) Nanban Trade Quater. Eastern great clans only rarely accept Nanban trade it seems, so you're more likely to be the first to accept. And because you're getting Nanban trade later, you're more like to have multiple trade ports to choose from.

It should be any port you want, but it can be only one and has to be a trading port in order to be "upgradeable"...

Playing in my current Shimazu campaign I was offered Nanban trade early on. I haven't accepted, and won't for this game. Every province I conquer that has a trade port offers two upgrades, one for a military port or one for the Nanban. Try destroying the military port and rebuild in the province you wish to place the Nanban port.
