Well Pizza, all I can say is that I can't wait for the end of this one. If you're Mafia, then I'll understand your reputation. If you were town, then I'll just shake my head in embarrasssment for you. Your analysis is somewhat flawed.

First, on my argument for you as Mafia.

Memnon is Mafia, gets shirt. Scans Johhog (another Mafioso) as town. Johhog does same to Populus, who is Mafia. You scan Memnon, he is clear. On the same night, the other three kill you to secure themselves permanently. That was what I repeated in 2 or 3 posts.

There's not enough mafia scumbags to complete the chain.
It means if player Populus scans goes ahead and scans Memnon or Johhog, and it turns out that player is mafia, then there is no debate, there is no discussion. It means I was mafia for the false scan on memnon, and Memnon was mafia for falsely scanning Johhog.

If we're going by the Mafia-get-opposite-scan-results mechanic, then Populus will get a Mafia result for whomever he scans. That's the whole point: POPULUS CAN'T BE TRUSTED IN THIS SCENARIO.

All you have to do is scan Memnon or Johhog with whoever Populus Romanus scans. It's impossible for the scums to keep up the charade at that point, because A townie would have had to scan A mafia before then, or else Populus Romanus' scanee is going to find mafia for reals, and that scanee is going to be townie as well, since there's not enough scums to complete the chain.

If Populus is Mafia, and he scans someone else as Mafia...

This is why I really don't want Populus to get the shirt.

Another of their friends had died the previous night, and it seemed like no progress was being made towards finding the killer(s). The previous two days, no consensus had been reached on who to kill, resulting in the death of no one.

Today was different.

First, everyone wanted to kill Seamus, but eventually the tide turned to Montmorency. He tried every possible form of defense, minus lightsaber combat and Cover 2, but still found himself on the wrong end of accusation by the end of the day.

I've both hosted and played in plenty of games with inactive scums. Inactivity doesn't indicate town or mafia.

I have many posts to respond to. Thanks for the benefit of the doubt and the lynch on Montmorency. I'll offer my opinion but I won't be nearly as insistent from now on, because I honestly do want to help town win, but I do not want to be the guy running around beating people upside the head either to accuse them or get them to work with me.

Also, I am sure there will be a twist to the investigations with the shirt. I dont know whether it always returns innocent or whether scum can decide their own results, but something will definitely be up, believe me. For that purpose I'd like to have a second chain of investigations independent of the first.

No, regardless of who you think is scum, this is a discussion we can have, and I can prove my point mathematically.

There's room for disagreement on suspects, but if there's any doubt that the single chain method is superior, I'll put it to rest.

I am asking for the shirt with the promise that I will investigate the person who gets the 2nd most lynches (so the most suspicious person that's not lynched). I am sure in my own innocence and this will give me some insight into what the shirt actually does. For the rest of you it should give some comfort that I am not going to direct the lynch in private but will let democracy decide.

Interesting case, pizza. You are underplaying the value of your earlier analyses in swaying my votes. Some of my willingness to lean on Pop and Memnon was a direct result of your "wouldn't it be a neat trick if the mafia had the shirt" line of argument. Your getting whacked along with the results leads me now, as it did you, to trust the shirt results more. Remember, too, pizza that I am nowhere near as prolific a poster in any mafia as I was in my first 2-3 games. I can probably be caught out as in a power role if I am signficantly more frequent, but a 1.5 per phase rate is probably about normal for me anymore.

Seamus I respect you too much to let you get away with lurking. For you, in a vanilla game, that means deviousness is behind it most likely.

Yeah, RL can slow you down, and maybe you're not as talkative as before. But if that's the case, I expect each post you do have time to make to be of game-winning quality for the town. To expect less of you is to be a fool, really.

I'm still wavering on you. The case on you was the weakest, it's too easy to explain by coincidence. And not unlikely coincidences either.

Actually, pizza, i think your arguments against jht are more on track than the others, though I admit that is based on my remembrances of his relatively low post count style and that he seems more active in this one. That could be, in part, because of your quoting him, but I don't think so. Anyway...

Whoever ends up with the shirt should check one of the three pizza has put the spotlight on. One of the three will no longer trouble anyone.

Ishmael, Yaropolk, or Johnhughthom all works for me. But I encourage the detective to try to hit the townie among them, if possible; because clearing a top suspect AS TOWNIE would mean the chain can continue unbroken.

Hitting scum is actually not as desire-able to me in this bizarre circumstance. But I'll take it, assuming we're scanning someone we were going to lynch anyway.
