acin, maybe you're just not a Frontroom sort of chap? You contribute substantially to the Backroom and (after a moderately shaky start) I consider you to be one of the more interesting and challenging (in the good sense of the word) posters there. Indeed, whilst your adopted internet persona may flinch at me saying soyou set an excellent example nowadays.
You take the time to frame the starting post of a thread and continue to generate interest in the subject with your often insightful responses. When someone makes a good argument, you're one of the few in our happy band to accept they may have a point.
If you don't feel motivated to do the same to help improve the Frontroom, maybe it's not the place you ought to frequent instead of getting bored and giving in to your demons. If you have some ideas that you are worried might be controversial, run them past the Frontroom moderators before posting. I'm sure they would be pleased to guide you and re-energise the Frontroom by setting as good an example as you have in the Backroom. For example, I certainly don't see any reason why philosophical discussions can't be had in the Frontroom as long as people play nicely. Sport, philosophy, holidays, relationships, cheese (the good things in life) all could provide excellent talking points. I'm sure there's plenty more.
