    It was the 1950s, the kids went around in groups and faced horrors of which the adult population were unaware, and they themselves would forget about for the next twenty years or so. The adults seemingly went about their humdrum lives with little interest in excitement, the lucky ones were murdered horribly by monsters or aliens.

    Or was that only Stephen Kings 1950s?
