Question is it possible to wipe out your " allies" the romans before getting 50 provences

    hi everybody-

i was thinking last night was it actually possible to destroy your fellow houses before taking over Rome? I think you can,
its pretty simple actually, though admittedly i haven't tested it on the Romans but it works a treat with the tribe people.

so hers how to do it ( it would be great if someone actually tested this and got back to me),
so say your the house of bruiti and you want to wipe out the house of juili why they only have their two central capitals- hard? no!

all you have to do is recruit some spies, assassins are helpful as well, now infiltrate their city, this lowers public order and can lead to rioting...and finally revolution, by repeating this both towns not only can you snatch for yourself but you have also wiped out one of your most notorious enemies. i have personally used assassins on them to kill off their entire family tree and to damage any military building they have.

would love to hear aby feedback you have !

I don't know what difficulty level you play at, but at the higher levels the AI will not allow a Roman faction (or most any faction) to be destroyed by assassination. I know....I tried it. The AI will spawn a family member in any available stack, or if one is not available, then in a city. If you continue to attempt assassinations, then the spawned members will appear with traits that make it much more difficult to assassinate...even impossible. Even a level ten assassin with all three ancillaries will have a 10% or less chance to get the job done. So.........

I've managed to destroy the Scipii and Julii with the Brutii before taking Rome, but not through riots and assassination.

I just blocked them both off early on (taking Sicily and Carthage before Scipii and the Gallic provinces before the Julii) and swamped their cities as soon as I was popular enough with the masses to start the civil war.

I dealt with Rome last and waited out the siege (10 turns or so) which gave me enough time to take all of the other Roman cities.

As for unkillable generals spawning, there might be something in that as I noticed Armenia suddenly produced two very careful family members in quick succession after I had a couple of their other family members assassinated.

I think the spawning family members was added in a patch, but I'm not sure...

If you want to fight the other Romans from turn 1 just play as the SPQR. The permanent alliance does not work when the SPQR is human controlled. The cash injections also don't work. As soon as you move away from Rome the others will backstab you. And you will be in the red because Rome can't pay for all those starting armies. Of course, your provinces not rioting and the strength of your starting armies means you can wtfpwn everyone anyway. Just don't click on the Senate tab.
