I've had a good Monday morning here in Sydney.

Alarm at 5:15. Dragged my sorry overweight carcass out of bed
5:40 Pre sunrise t-shirt, speedo's (well shorts made by speedo) and a quick 30 minute walk and jog listening to REM and the sun rising.
Breakfast was two wheat bix and a piece of vegemite toast.

Got the uber express train 46 mins to my destination at least 5 minutes faster then a standard express.

Got. A. Seat!!! For the first time in a fortnight.

Cracked open my book to study and all I can hear is some welfare fish wife swearing about no understanding how to use her MasterCard debit card that she got in April as she is used to a p card and that she has been unfairly charged on her second bank account. The whole trip since she got on at Parra she has been ranting. She is half a carriage away upstairs and I have turned my headphones to just short of painful and I still can hear her whining.

That and two height to weight challenged individuals have decided to take up three seats with their rumps. Shouldn't they be paying 50% each as they've stopped selvete individuals from sharing the bench?

The lady of welfare is still screeching and swearing. I'm looking forward to my morning cappucino and to work.

So what gets you out of bed? How long arduous is your commute? What makes workdays good for yo

My "commute" to work is a walk of about 40 seconds. Lucky me!

My commute is 2 minutes on bike. College starts at 9:15, I get up around 8:45.

I only work 2 days a week, I need more of a real job. Still. Roll out of the sack some time between 10:20 and 11:20. Walk to the main house from my apartment (that has no kitchen) get some ceral. Shower. Have lunch around 1. Clean up some and scoop cat box. Make sure the jeep is loaded for work, and clean up the mess the idiots who bring up the flyers leave behind. Have supper then head for the city around 7 (depending on how willing I am to put my foot up the old man's arse), do the deliveries. Back home at midnight.

My commute is pretty painless and boring. It takes me 15 minutes to drive to work. I hardly ever work in the mornings, mostly in the middle of the day or the closing shift, so I don't have leave right when I get up. I usually just hang around the house, do some chores, and then an hour before I'm supposed to be in I make something to eat, then I change into my work clothes and leave.

I also have to take my brother to school some almost every morning, which takes me 40 minutes and I leave around 7:30.

On foot 28,mins from Condo to CBD via Chinatown. Could do it quicker, but Singapore's a sweaty place...

I walk over the road.

This is a longer commute than I've had in past, when I only had to walk down the stairs!

Up at 4:30am. 30 minute jog, start coffee pot upon return then take quick shower while it brews. Fix a bowl of oatmeal/grits or toast & jam with my morning coffee while checking email etc... Brush me teeth, get on the uniform and drive 22 country miles to work at 6am. I consider it a good day at work when we all leave at the end of our shift upright & breathing, all the cons accounted for, our sanity mostly intact.

I'm a morning person and get up at the crack of dawn most every morning. 6am is sleeping in for me.

Drag my out of bed at 6am. Blergh. The only thing that keeps me from being a homicidal maniac at 6am is my cute dog wagging his tail because he knows it's time for breakfast. Out the door a by a little after 7ish. Get to work around 8. I take public transportation so at least I get to read or do a crossword puzzle. By DC standards, my commute isn't bad, but that isn't saying much. I know some people who have a 1.5 - 2 hour commute each way. If I had to drive to work in DC traffic, I'd be in a padded cell somewhere.

About 5 minutes from my fraternity house to the dining hall for breakfast which can take an hour if I want. Then about a 3 minute walk to the building where my class takes place.

Wake up at 8:00 and 40 minutes on the bus for me. Got a bus stop about 2 minutes walking distance from my front door, so it's pretty convenient. Usually spend the time running through lesson plans or translating Old English.

What gets me out of bed every morning is the lod speakers on the base:

ATTENTION ON THE FOB. THERE WILL BE A CONTROLLED DETONATION IN APPROXIMATELY **BOOM** 2 MINUTES

The alarm clock goes off 6:45. I go downstairs to get the cat (who's now meowing (?)), get back into bed with the cat until after the news of 7:00. Get ready for work, prepare my lunch and off I go at 7:30. It's a half hour bicycle ride to work.

The Oslo metro is lazy stuff. Though if you are unlucky, you'll end up on the same train as a band of beggars playing their instruments (guitar etc.); through which one will discover that the train wagons have quite decent acoustics. But this is rare, thankfully.

For me it depends a lot on the day, often there is no commute as there is nothing to commute to.
When I have uni in the morning, I usually get up at least two hours before I have to be there, then sleep 30 minutes longer anyway, try to read some stuff on the internet wasting even more time, shower somewhere in between, then either eat a quick breakfast or realize that I'll be 5-10 mins late even if I don't. The university, or most of it, is only two stops of the subway away and the station is a block away from my home. If I have to get to the computer sciences building I usually need about 10 mins longer as it's further away and not on the main campus.

Well, if it's something important I'm usually faster, or get up earlier.

6.45 am : an alarm goes off, get kiss from wife, grumble a bit because it's too early, go back to sleep.
7.15 am : second alarm goes off, say something like "bloody nazis" or complain about the injustice of it all, drag myself out of bed, shower, get dressed, quick breakfeast with wife;
7.35 am : wake up son; give son milk, take off his pyjamas, change his diaper, smear in his sensitive skin with bodymilk, put on clothes, jealous because son never fails to have a good hair day while my hair is only manageable if not longer than 5 mm;
8.00 am: wife kisses goodbye and leaves for work; dad goes downstairs for a cup of coffee and his morning chat with his son (lots of "blahblahblah", nothing of it makes sense, he should go into politics)
8.10 am: play a bit with son;
8.35 am: leave the house, drive with car to day care;
8.45 am: drop off son, chat a bit with the people from the day care;
8.50 am: leave, drive to work;
9.00 am: arrive at work.

Up around 7, get the dogs out and exercise/feed them. Perform the 3 S's, and leave for work around 9. I probably have one of the easier commutes in the DC metropolitan area, 10-15 minutes to go about 6 miles.

Daily ritual begins:

6:30 am: Alarm goes off, hit snooze.
6:45 am: Snooze alarm goes off, by this time my brother is taking a shower. He is noisy as heck. Snooze again.
7:00 am: Snooze goes off, I hear my brother start up his truck to head to work. Hit snooze.
7:15 am: Snooze goes off, I'm slightly awake by now, hit snooze again just to make sure.
7:20-29 am: Eyes slam awake worried I'm late, and slept through 4th snooze alarm.
7:30 am: Take a shower, get ready, usually by making sure I'm presentable.
8:05 am: Walk down to bus stop, hoping that bus decides to not run early today.
8:15 am: Get on bus, 90% of time I have no seat, and I am forced to listen to one of 4 languages spoken at an above loud volume. English, Chinese, Spanish, Ghetto
8:30 am: Get off bus at my local bart (Bay Area Rapid Transit, our form of subway but its both Elevated and sub lines) station, Never have a seat since its bright and middle of commute.
8:50 am: Get off bart and sprint to class that is about 15 min away and starts at 9am

4 days a week, 3 day weekends result in sleeping till noon and up till 4 am.

Not that I don't check the .Org at my lunchbreak but starting your workday with some irrelevant websurfing?

Or are you actually paid by the .Org? And where can I apply?

It depends on whether I'm going to classes or to work but to Uni I have to go for about 20-30 minutes and it's about 45-50 minutes to work.
