"If there is a sin against life, it consists not so much in despairing as in hoping for another life and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this one."
Albert Camus "Noces"
Up at 4:30am. 30 minute jog, start coffee pot upon return then take quick shower while it brews. Fix a bowl of oatmeal/grits or toast & jam with my morning coffee while checking email etc... Brush me teeth, get on the uniform and drive 22 country miles to work at 6am. I consider it a good day at work when we all leave at the end of our shift upright & breathing, all the cons accounted for, our sanity mostly intact.
I'm a morning person and get up at the crack of dawn most every morning. 6am is sleeping in for me.
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." *Jim Elliot*
Drag myout of bed at 6am. Blergh. The only thing that keeps me from being a homicidal maniac at 6am is my cute dog wagging his tail because he knows it's time for breakfast. Out the door a by a little after 7ish. Get to work around 8. I take public transportation so at least I get to read or do a crossword puzzle. By DC standards, my commute isn't bad, but that isn't saying much. I know some people who have a 1.5 - 2 hour commute each way. If I had to drive to work in DC traffic, I'd be in a padded cell somewhere.

About 5 minutes from my fraternity house to the dining hall for breakfast which can take an hour if I want. Then about a 3 minute walk to the building where my class takes place.
Wake up at 8:00 and 40 minutes on the bus for me. Got a bus stop about 2 minutes walking distance from my front door, so it's pretty convenient. Usually spend the time running through lesson plans or translating Old English.

What gets me out of bed every morning is the lod speakers on the base:

The alarm clock goes off 6:45. I go downstairs to get the cat (who's now meowing (?)), get back into bed with the cat until after the news of 7:00. Get ready for work, prepare my lunch and off I go at 7:30. It's a half hour bicycle ride to work.

When I have uni in the morning, I usually get up at least two hours before I have to be there, then sleep 30 minutes longer anyway, try to read some stuff on the internet wasting even more time, shower somewhere in between, then either eat a quick breakfast or realize that I'll be 5-10 mins late even if I don't. The university, or most of it, is only two stops of the subway away and the station is a block away from my home. If I have to get to the computer sciences building I usually need about 10 mins longer as it's further away and not on the main campus.
Well, if it's something important I'm usually faster, or get up earlier.
