Thread: How does it feel to be Canadian?

Default How does it feel to be Canadian?

One thing I envy about you Canadians is that nobody hates your country. I never see anyone from outside of Canada bash Canada. It must feel comfortable to be your nationality when traveling abroad or when on the internet. You don't have to go through the bashings and accusations whether these are true or false.

I've heard of Canadians lamenting on their high taxes, but a lot of them say that it's worth it. Although a lot of people outside of Canada don't know about the taxes and other stuff, they wouldn't care anyway if they know about it because they don't live in Canada. And Canada is still one of the wealthiest countries out there and has one of the best living standards. I don't know anyone who is prejudiced towards Canada. And another thing, Canada has no national rivalry with any other country..............unless you count ice hockey.........

    Are there any Canadians here?

Must admit I know absolutely nothing about the place, do know that American tourists often say they are from Canada. No need for that you silly. But I never actually saw a real one in the wild. I heard it's a pleasant country to live, and that they are nice folks.

Speaking as a non-North American, the economic benefits Americans get from having lower taxes are offset by their higher healthcare costs.

canadians are going to remain rich well into this century, they have an enormous creative industry comparative to their population/GDP.

Canadians and MExicans are a good cover to use when working charity in middle eastern and asian countires where you may be in danger of politically motivated violence. Of course, this won't help you vs kidnappers because everyone in the third world thinks everyone not in the third world is rich, so being a "Mexican" or a "Canadian" won't help you against Indonesian criminal syndicates.

Today it's a good day, as Clifford Olsen died.

That's nothing. He would also send letters detailing what he'd done to the families of his victims. Or posting videos on the internet of the same.

Canada certainly is a good spot, but it's what you make it. For the most part our younger generation is a far cry from those that made the country the great place that it is now in the eyes of the world. To be honest I could see the whole place falling apart like a Chinese motorcycle at some point in the near future, but it's been great being a part of it.

For the record, I really get ticked at folks from other nations putting Canadian flags on their backpacks so they can travel around and not get hassled. If I'm ever abroad and I meet anyone doing it; they'll be on their backside and that flag will be coming home to Canada with me, guaranteed Eh!

BTW Hax, we made up 4/5's of the band, yes, but we still admit that Levon was cooler than the other 4 put together!

Which explains why every Turk and Lebanese I met in Dubai either had, or was after, a Canadian passport.

Maybe, drumming and singing at the same time is pretty awesome, but there's no much that can compare to Rick Danko slipping and sliding up and down the fretless bass.

Any surprise he got denied parole 3 times, or that no one is mourning his passing?

Well there is fairly large Lebanese community here in Halifax. In fact if you go into just about any mom and pop type of Pizza shop here and it'll be owned and operated by a Lebanese family, or owned by a Lebanese person and half the staff will be Lebanese. And they'll also serve a fast food version of the Lebanese style of the Greek Gyros, or Turkish Doner kabab. Called a Donair. I'm not trying to say that's bad, just that it is.
