Default Google/Samsung reveal Ice-Cream-Sandwich/Nexus-S - What do you think?

    So here it is:

    http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/s...exus-hands-on/

    We now have -

    IOS 5 for Apple:

    BBX for Blackberry:
    http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/aus...ets-on-bbx/129

    Meego/Harmattan for Nokia:
    http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n9-review-659.php

    WP7 Mango for HTC et-al:

Everyone is coming out with major revamps of the mobile platforms, how does this change your mobile plans?

Personally, I am expecting my Meego-Harmattan Nokia N9 next week, and a Blackberry Playbook for the missus in the same timeframe.

the new Android, IOS, and WP7 versions all look technically competent and thoroughly polished, but they just don't grab my interest for all that i love the SoC in the Iphone 4S, and the screen size of the Nexus S and HTC Titan.

    How about you?

I'm probably going to have to get a "real" phone in the next month or two, so I'm looking hard at Ice Cream Sandwich and iOS 5. Not an easy decision.

I would be extremely interested to hear hands-on reports from any Orgah who is familiar with both OSes.

OMG! A smart phone named after food. Must...have...

I don't know if I can wait until spring. I need an upgrade.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

i'm not interested in WP7 as it is closed, and in no way a demonstrably superior system.

i'm not interested in android because the UI feels awkward cluttered and clumsy to use.

i'm not interested in IOS because so much of the value (you pay for) seems to derive from the services (which i don't want).

i like BBX's new emphasis on developer openness, but it is still a closed app-store, and it is a way off yet.

that leaves me with Meego/Harmattan with the added plus that it uses Qt, and i am a linux/KDE fan, so it's an N9 for me.

LOL, you sound like Richard Stallman. The guy has essentially committed himself to technology solitary confinement for the rest of his life. Okay, I'm kidding a little...

I'm firmly entrenched in iOS now. Windows is a 2nd runner up, and they have potential this coming year. And I'm not interested in the Food Network, because I have to put up with their BS on a daily basis. I hate supporting Android, last week it took me over an hour to set up corporate sync on a Galaxy S because of some crap SSL cert. My phone "just worked"...
But if Mozilla ever put together their proof of concept phone I might come out of my walled-garden. Dare I say the Mozilla phone w/ voice interactivity (Siri) would be pretty sweet.

lol, i am very much on the Torvalds side of the open-source argument and not Stallman's, but if I am offered more freedom i will take it.

My Android works brilliantly.. never understood the issue with it.

My biggest problem with Android is privacy concerns. Many popular apps require you to give access to your GPS location, contacts, calendar, call history ect and Google is very vague about explaining why the apps need the access and how it will be used. Some of them have very legitimate uses- (ie: finding nearby theaters showing a movie), but there's no assurance that that's all they're using it for... and in many cases they're not. Many app makers sell your information, including GPS location to undisclosed third parties....

Ah well, welcome to the digital age.
