Bunshō 2nd Year, 3rd month
March 28th, 1467
At the night of March second. forces of Yamana Sozen and Hatakeyama Yoshinari had tried to kill Izumi Hatakeyama Masanaga at this mansion of Kyoto. Apparently acting on orders of Shogun Yoshimasa. Fortunately Masanaga had escaped his foes successfully and fled Kyoto, heading towards his lands at Southern Yamashiro.
Hosokawa Mansion had turned into military camp over night, while attendants and servants were trying to pack everything they could anticipating hurried departye from Kyoto.
Hosokawa key vassals.The same men who had gathered at the start of the ýear had again gathered at the main hall of the mansion. Intense discussion was held about the recent events and possibly best course of action to take in the current situation. Discussion came to a sudden halt as Hosokawa Katsumoto entered the main hall in full armour.
Once The Lord of Hosokawa had seated himself in front of the others. His Master of Arms Hosokawa Ujioki stood up, opened a scroll before him and started reading with clear and loud voice:
"Military orders for the up and coming War!
Commander in Chief of all military forces of Clan Hosokawa, Commander of the main Hosokawa Army, Hosokawa Katsumoto.
Commander of the Army of Shikoku, Hosokawa Shigeharu.
Commander of the Army of Chugoku, Hosokawa Katsuhisa.
Commander of the 1st Central Army, Hosokawa Katsumasu.
Commander of the 2nd Central Army, Hosokawa Mochihisa.
Commander of the 3rd Central Army, Hosokawa Masakuni.
Commander of the Army of Mikawa, Hosokawa Shigeyuki.
Strategy Overseer, Hosokawa Ujioki."
While Ujioki kept reading each Daimyo accepted their position when their name was called out. Next Ujioki spread some maps on the floor in order to pass detailed plans for the upcoming war.
Here is detailed map of the area of Operations at Chugoku.
"Army of Chugoku will consist of Daimyo, Hosokawa Katsuhisa´s troops of Kato and Aga Kori of Bitchu province. Forces of Kokujin Mimura Chikataka of Tetta Kori and Kokujin Sho Motosuke of Kaya Kori. Army of Chugoku will assemble in Kaya Kori and once assembled will attack Yamana Clan´s Kojima Kori of Bizen Province, in order to defend this approach to Shikoku Island. The total force of Army of Chugoku is 3750 men.

"Army of Shikoku will gather in Toyota Kori of Sanuki. Daimyo, Hosokawa Shigeharu´s forces of Utari Kori and his Kokujin´s Kozai Motosuke of Kagawa Kori and Yasutomi Tominaga of Ouchi Kori will join forces of Kokujin Kagawa Motoaki at Toyota.Once the force is assembled and ready.Army of Shikoku will attack Uma Kori of Kono Clan´s Iyo province. Kokujin of Hosokawa Katsumoto, Chosokabe Fumikane of Nagaoka Kori of Tosa Province will join the others in attack against Uma Kori. Forces of our two other Kori of Tosa province, namely Hata and Tosa kori, will stay at defence incase of attack from Kono Clan. The total strength of the Army of Shikoku is 6000 men.
Apart from the Army of Shikoku. Forces belonging to Daimyo of Awa and Awaji, Hosokawa Masakuni, will start marching East in order to assemble 2nd and 3rd Central Armies of Hosokawa Clan. Here is a map concerning their area of Operations."
"2nd Central Army will consist from forces of Daimyo of Izumi, Hosokawa Mochihisa´s Kori of Izumi,Minami and Hime. His Kokujin Tannowa Arishige of Misaki kori and kokujin Numa Kunikiyo of Otori kori. Daimyo of Awa and Awaji, Hosokawa Masakuni´s kokujin, Hosokawa Masaharu will join with his half of his forces, namely the forces of Awaji kori at Awaji Island. 2nd Central Army will assemble at Izumi kori of Izumi Province and once assembled, will attack Hatakeyama Clan´s Naga kori of Kii Province.Total Strength of 2nd Central Army is 4500 men."
"3rd Central Army will consist from forces of Daimyo of Awa and Awaji, Hosokawa Masakuni´s forces from Kaifu and Itano kori of Awa province, Kokujin Miyoshi Nagayuki of Miyoshi kori, Kokujin Ichinomiya Shigemitsu of Katsuura kori, Kokujin Hosokawa Harumasa of Mihara kori of Awaji Island and Kokujin Atagi Naotoshi of Tsuna Kori from the same Island. 3rd Central Army will assemble at Misaki kori of Izumi province and attack Hatakeyama Clan´s Nagusa Kori of Kii province. total strength of 3rd central army is 4500 men.
Here is the area of operations for the Main army of Hosokawa and 1st central Army."
"The Main Army of Clan Hosokawa will consist of Leader of the Hosokawa, Hosokawa Katsumoto´s forces of Otokuni kori of Yamashiro Province, Nishinari Kori of Settsu Province and Inagawa Kori of Settsu province. Kokujin Ikeda Mitsumasa of Teshima Kori,Settsu.Kokujin Yakushiji Motonaga of Shimashimo kori and Irie Haruyori of Shimakami Kori. Main Army will assemble at Shimashimo Kori of Settsu province and attack Clan Hatakeyama´s Manda Kori of Kawatchi Province.
1st Central Army will consist of Leader of Hosokawa Clan, Hosoka Katsumoto´s forces of Ubara kori of Settsu. Kokujin Settsu Arima Motoie´s forces of Arima and Yatabe Kori. Kokujin Itami Masayori of Kawabe Kori. Kokujin Nose Motoyori of Nose Kori and Daimyo of Tanba,Hosokawa Katsumasu´s Kokujin Nagato Naito Motosada of Funai Kori of Tanba province.1st central Army will assemble at Nose Kori of Settsu province and once assembled will continue Operations depending the situation.Total strength of 1st Central Army is 4500 men.
Apart the Main and 1st central army. Daimyo of Tanba, Hosokawa Katsumasu´s forces of Kuwada and Ikaruga kori of Tanba province and his Kokujin, Hatano Hidenaga of Hikami kori and Akai Naoie of Amata province will stay on defensive and act as reserve.

"Army of Mikawa will consist of Daimyo of Mikawa, Hosokawa Shigeyuki´s forces of Nukata kori of Mikawa Province. Kokujin Tojo Yoshifuji of Aomi Kori. Kokujin Matsudaira Nobumitsu of Kamo Kori. Kokujin Numa Sadanobu of Shitara Kori and Kokujin Toda Munemitsu of Atsumi Kori. Army of Mikawa is to stay in defensive in it´s entirety. Total Strength of Army of Mikawa is 3750 Men."
Once the master of Arms had finished. Hosokawa Katsumoto addressed the Lords, present.
"The War is upon us. Our Armies of 34 500 men are ready. Fight hard and bravely, but conserve your forces and do not seek open battles in vain. When and if we defeat our first enemies.More can be found behind them, so preserve the lives of your men as i dont think this will be a short affair. Now return to your fiefs and wait for the order to act. Gods and Buddha with you all!"
