    Default SM does Newbury

    Hi all,

My job is taking me to Newbury (West Berkshire, UK), and my total lack of previous interest for the town and the towns uncanny ability to fail to show up on any radars, I have no idea what i'm dealing with, what to do there, where to go, where not to, where to shop, eat, play, exercise, and a long list of other etceteras that make daily living tolerable. So I turn to you, my fellow orgahs for advice, if anyone has been there, to please show me the way.

Please also, if someone could let me know how to commute to London from there it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    SM

There's a racecourse, so if you're into horse racing/gambling, check that out.

I'd look into trains for commuting, if you're not going to drive.

Looks like Train. I would say.. an hour or possibly a little more on the train will get you into the middle of London.

I live on the otherside of the country (the North) so it is different to the South.

Well, thankfully, after my brief experience here it is ok for me to move to west London. It will involve a few hours drive a couple of days a week, but at least i'll be close to an airport...

Hmm Newbury, used to live in Andover which isn't that far.

Where in West London? In fact nevermind, I don't know where anywhere is.

I'd say train to London as well, you might need to go via Reading or Basingstoke, both are ok for a night out, don't go to Andover unless you like squaddie towns. Don't suppose you're too far from Oxford either there but never been out there.

Let me know if you want me to ask about for things to do.

As Top Gear has proven countless times: Skip the train; buy an Aston.

You know, vlad, that would be great if there was any space to park it in London. And the Aston has the same problem...
