So has anybody managed to get horses to spawn yet? I've spent several hours now systematically slaughtering every animal in my nearby plains biome, but still no luck. I get the feeling that the area is pitted by enough ravines and open caves that I can't quite find and kill enough passive mobs in order to get the number below 10 in the spawning area. I may have to try moving to a slightly...flatter plains biome, but I'd hate to have depopulated the current one in vain.

I have been looking for horses all over the world map, to no avail. I also killed the wild life on the plains north of my castle in the hopes that horses will spawn there.. that's two days ago.

edit:
I said all over the map, that's of course an overstatement. However, I did a fairly long walkabout and followed this route in the hopes that there might be horses where no man has ever ventured.
