I don't use mods for Skyrim because patches and DLCs come too quickly and they don't tend to work well with mods. Plus I don't like anime character looks or overpowered weapons and spells.

I really wished for the ability to actually fly on a dragon (was disappointed when I got to mount one during the main quest line and It just cut to the landing) and it appears the next DLC will add that! I was also thinking that the game lacks spears (even though spears suck for single combat IRL, this is a game after all). It appears we can outfit our very own spear&shield one man (with a dragon's soul) phalanx

I find that the vast majority of mods are good about quickly updating when a patch or DLC comes out, but as you said I dont want to mess up any of the awesome non-makingmycharacteranime mods that I have.

Even if you dont usually use mods, I highly suggest you get the SkyUI mod (dont forget to install the SKSE aspect of it) since it really makes the UI better for PC users.
