    Default migration campaign

hey there, just want to know if anybody else has ever tried a migration campaign on shogun 2, and if so, do you have any tips?

i am busy in one right now, i moved with tokugawa to kyushu. first got the oda of my neck by killing them, didn't realize a vassal can't make vassals (now i think of it, pretty logical). lett them rebel and made peace with them. built a full stack plus 4 garrisoning units, who protect me from being killed while on the move. shipped them over to kyushu, couldn't declare war on shimazu without declaring war on imagawa first, so i did that, and captured both shimazu provinces. on to the further conquest of kyushu!

have you ever tried one, and have tips for them, please share them here.

Thought I'd check first on what exactly you mean by migration campaign, I think I know what you mean, and if it's what I think you mean, yes, I've done this, more out of desperation than a set strategy. If you're talking about moving the clan to somewhere else on the island as the new starting point for your campaign, I've done that. I forget which clan it was, but it was someone in the rather busy middle section. And as I recall I was land locked as well. I focused on grabbing a province with a port, got some ships built and set sail for provinces near the trade nodes, it wasn't too long after getting established down at that end of the map that I lost the original starting province. Pretty sure the provinces I invaded were also Shimazu.

You're right about Oda starting in a bind too, that's a tough nut to crack initially, fun challenge, and I like the solution you came up with. In fact, that's at the core of the reason I love this game so much and consider the replay value solid, each campaign plays out differently, at least for me. Love it.

As for tips, I can't think of anything terribly specific, because to be honest I didn't set out with this as the plan. I would say if you're going down this road the obvious thing to avoid is wasting time working on the eco side of your starting point. And the second piece would be to get on with it as fast as possible, because this will put you behind a bit to all clans you're competing with who organically grew out of their starting positions with no time wasted relocating.

As the Tokugawa, I ended up taking the Date home province, giving me an out when the home province got taken out by my former overlords. The provinces of NE Japan are very rich, certainly compared to the central ones.
