Why keep things in his comfort-zone aka work, if he's trying to harm you make it personal, most people don't like the prospect of things getting violent. Yeahyeah I know bad advice, it works beautifully though

On a more serious note, what I got from your post was that you used to have problems with him, but this time around he's just badmouthing someone else (i.e your boss and another coworker). So what I don't get is why do you feel obligated to do anything at all? Do you really like your boss/other coworker that much?
