    Default Hello fellow EB players

Since i started playing this wonderful mod i have been amazed how much time and work has been put in. I really want Rome 2 Total War come next. Will Creative Assembly and Sega take notice of this mod and base new game on it.

    Post your thoughts

    edit:
not base new game on it or take little inspiration from it.

Really hope not, I'm sick of 2 titles, Shogun 2 was acceptable due to the improvements in gameplay and AI...
I'd like new games to revolve around new regions and timeframes...

Most of all with EBII coming out one day, R2TW, at least for me, will be irrelevant XD

There are plenty of regions and time frames that would make for interesting gameplay. I'm no expert on Chinese history but wouldn't there be great opportunities there? Also, a Rise of Islam campaign might be pretty fun, detailing the Arab wars against the Byzantines and Sassanids.

M2 sought to cover this timeframe, sort of, as they did several times and places, but they kind of fell short on all fronts. =[

agree, the 2 years per turn really gave me the feeling they made it to let an average game also feature the renascence.

btw there is a cute little mod about the italian wars. There are only few new units but it does make the whole setting come more to life than the late M2TW campaign. Also nice is the English civil war mod(tho somewhat after 1500)

My wish would be a for a 'pre-EB' era game, not a R:TW II. About 560 BCE to 280 BCE. This would start with the rise of the Persian (Achaemenid) Empire, cover the entire Greek Classical period, ending with the rise of Macedon and the wars of the Diodochi.

The map would not need to extend west of Emporion or north of Camulosadae, so Spain, and north-west Africa west of Ippone would not be on the map, nor would western Gaul. Only the southeast corner of Britain would be visible. Most of the northern steppe would also be cut off, Gava-Yazyga, Bin-kath and Sulek would be the northernmost towns. I'd also cut off the southern part of the map, everything south of Diospolis-Megale. There would be no Casse, Lusotann, Sweboz, Sauromatae, Saka or Saba factions, instead there would be more Gallic, Etruscan, Italian, Greek, Skythian and Iranian factions. The map, because it is reduced in area, would be larger in scale, meaning more space between the towns.

    (1) Hello romanip, welcome to the forums and to EB.
    (2) What CA/SEGA base their next Total War on doesn't interest me at all anymore because I won't buy that game anyway.
I said it in another forum recently: I am done with that "Customer rights? Hahaha!" behaviour of the game industry.
And therefore I don't buy games that force you to use Steam, are only complete with a gazillion additional DLC's (that are not free of course) etc.
The TW story ended for me with MII TW.
I didn't buy Empire or any of it's successors and I never will as long as I am forced to become a customer without rights to own these games. Period.

That's why I am so eagerly awaiting EBII (one of the reasons, that is).
EBI kept me busy for some years now, EBII will provide even more challenges to take on and knowledge to learn.
Who needs highend-super-duper-graphics when there is actual highend gameplay available?

Greece total war would be amazing, but I have bad feeling that it would be Rome total war but with focus with Greek factions.
I would prefer mod which enhances the Greek experience. If they pull it off and make something better than shogun 2 i will be ready to wage war as Sparta.

I know what you mean :L I Think we should support the moders as they deserve recognition sometimes more than actual developers !

Yes it does, but most gamers worldwide have never heard of 'Hellas'. Few American or British teenagers would know what the word meant.

In fact, a better title from a sales point of view would be: Sparta: Total War (with an obligatory black-bearded Spartan officer shouting on the front cover). In familiar CA/SEGA fashion, factions would be the Spartans and some other people who got beaten up by the Spartans. Units would be 'realistically and carefully balanced' so that the Spartans can defeat an Athenian army three times their strength, a Theban army five times their strength, and a Persian army twenty times their strength....you know where this is heading!

greece total war great documentary about social tensions of greece nowadays or is this not what we´re talking about ?

anyway i just hope that whatever they do they make a simple/single steppe and every family member with a nomadic trait that finds itself on the steppes does not require a single setlement the faction just exists if you wanna get rid of it then you must kill off every single family member and that single steppe region would have some kind of markers to define wich steppe faction controls certain resources like grazeland copper fluvial deposits slave trading and so forth (those markers can even be some sort of permanent stone fort without walls ) that would make for a very dinamic game in the steppes (ofc 0 upkeep for units and every summer you loose x% amount of your soldiers depending on wich part of the steppes you camped for the winter)

anyway there´s plenty of periods they can explore but they need new concepts for their games the engine still works fine but a hellas golden age game won´t work with defeat take over hire 1 single unit and move to the next target it needs a special engine that enables you to control other cities by bribes placing garrisons and so forth

Nah, less infantry is no fun.

Off-topic: Does your EB crash a (relatively)lot when the enemy sallies from their cities?

I don't see that one happening. Just one war which lasted for a few years can't be properly modelled in a TW game.
