    Default Expendables II

    Incase you missed this.

I can't believe they left out Clint Eastwood. They could have easily squeezed him in a scene, kicking Jet Li off his lawn.

I haven't gotten around to watching the first one, was there any more to it than a series of cameos?

My friend went to watch it with his girlfriend. When he came out he was short a girlfriend because she had grown (keeping the joke in Frontroom....'terms') was no longer a girl.
Cameo actually was only Bruce Willis and Arnold. The rest of the movie was a pure action flick in all possible senses, from beginning to the end, literally. If this sequel follows pattern, then it's at least going to be bigger, if not better...then again there's just one main thing that is required to improve an action flick, namely more action. This movie seems to have that.

The first one was so good that it just was not right. I am hoping that this one will be just as good. I don't know why, but the movie always reminded me of this song:
Hammer, anvil, forge and fire, chase away The Hoofed Liar. Roof and doorway, block and beam, chase The Trickster from our dreams.
Vigilance is our shield, that protects us from our squalid past. Knowledge is our weapon, with which we carve a path to an enlightened future.

That fits the movie very well, it's not to be taken too seriously and there's an over-the-top poser-mentality.

The whole mercenary and veteran thing usually reminds me of this traditional organization:

Especially if van Damme is involved, he played a legionnaire several times if I'm not mistaken, right?
Good to know he will be in the second part, he certainly belongs there!

lol, it is definitely over-the-top, but I think that it is just bravado. I just love how poetic the lyrics are; esp this part:

Come to the nightmare, come to me, deep down in the dark where the devil be, in the maw with the jaws and the razor teeth, where the brimstone burns and the angel weeps. Call to the gods if I cross your path and my silhouette hangs like a body bag; hope is a moment now long past, the shadow of death is the one I cast.
It almost sounds like something the Trickster would say. (a bad guy in Thief)

Knock? You make it sound like I said something negative about them. Up to the first smiley my post was referring to Vuk's video.

    Without using google:

    1. they put him in a freezer

    2. blue is associated with french

    3. blood poisoning (maybe also blue= steel, but having that in your balls should count as poisoning )

    the first one was forgettable.
It missed what the truly great action movies from the 80's and 90's had...good and memorable one-liners!

Let's face ...that's what you remember from those movies....the Expendables don´t have one of those 'cool' moments you talk with your friends about years later.
having Chuck Norris for part 2 is good, but they should invest in some punch up writers for the script...they need them more.

Except that's not true. When all the soldiers in the hallway just get mowed down by the AA-12 is one of the most ridiculous moments in action movie history.

That was actually my favourite scene.

All I remember is that Lundgren wants to hang a pirate really, but only because I thought it was a good idea

Unless that was a specially built propeller plane with break away wings, not only would shaving off the sides rip the fuselage open, but the propellers would shatter, penetrate the fuselage, and the shrapnel would tear everyone to shreds. Just like in a helicopter crash.

While I will see the movie, and it does look entertaining, I just cannot get over idiotic ideas like that thing with the plane. It's stupid. Just stupid.
