Didn't the Americans join the war in 1917? And from what I know, they mostly held back their troops until the last German major attack in late 1918.

Well, the US entered in April of 1917. We had a very small army so to train and then ship our forces to France meant most of our forces didnt arrive until early spring of 1918, when we fought in the final German offensive, which was not in late 1918, but in early 1918, as it is called the Spring Offensive.

God messaged the admins. There had been this annoying fanboy of his there lately, and he wanted some "chill" time for the holidays.

Was WW2, I should have mentioned that. I don't know if it's actually true but it would be awesome if it is. As the story goes, what the American thought was a grenade turned out to be a snowball. So they threw snowballs back and got themselves into a snowball-fight with the Germans. I hope it is a true story.

Did a little Googling, looks like it's from a 1992 film called "A Midnight Clear."

On the topic of comical objects being thrown at war, the Battle of Lepanto:

Even after the battle had clearly turned against the Turks, groups of Janissaries still kept fighting with all they had. It is said that at some point the Janissaries ran out of weapons and started throwing oranges and lemons at their Christian adversaries, leading to awkward scenes of laughter among the general misery of battle.

To those who celebrate Christmas -- MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours.

To those who do not -- Happy New YEARs (unless you're Hindu, in which case that's belated)

Christmas, a time for reflection, a time of contemplation, a time for assessing the spirit of peace and good will.

Or if your like me, a time to pig out and getting as drunk as a Lord.

In the spirit of the Christmas truce, it is closed over the festive period. It re-opens just after the New Year.

Have not been to the org in probably a year now and thought I would stop in the backroom to see if the euros and other foreign commie ilk were still performing fellatio on Obummer but to my great disappointment there was no backroom to be found... Then I remembered that this was that time of year when we pretend that some invisible boogie man demands our morality and good will to go into overdrive....
Happy Holidays everyone, including the terminally stupid. Peace and love, peace and love...
