    Default XBOX 360

it appears my xbox 360 is of insuffiecent quality to run Skyrim as it continually freezes. so annoying enough.

then to top it all off microsoft has designed a product very easy to screw up over time. it no longer reads discs very well so sometimes i have to open and close the tray a few times.

very annoying all of it tbh.

Get a HDD and install your games. It'll solve most of those problems, the Xbox tends to lock up most often during loading and disk reads. Installing the game leaves the disk drive off for most of the time save an authentication check when you boot it up.

I bought one for my little boy lemur, made sure it had the HD installed. Makes his game loads go much smoother, and reduces the amount of time he spends trying to get onto my gaming PC. Can you USB an HD to a normal Xbox 360? Ah, I see they sell a purpose-made HD for just that.

When the 360 2.0 came along M$ dropped memory cards. Now you can configure any USB memory for Xbox usage. And you can install games to that. BUT it's a bit of a pain as if said memory device is plugged in or powered (in case of stick or external HDD) the Xbox won't see it upon booting. And you'll have to remove it and replace it. So while M$ will let you away with not buying an internal HDD, they won't make it easy.
