Default Your game of the year

I would have to chose between Crysis 2 and Dark Souls. Deus Ex got boring quikly imho, it's too forced in trying to be Deus-Esque. Crysis 2 was amazing, best shooter I played in a long time. I am not that far with Dark Souls but it's even better than Demon Souls, I can forgive the sloppy framerate (DS was gloriously smooth) because it's a pretty damn huge game. Haven't played Skyrim, my tv doesn't like it, it cuts out relevant info like the radar and healthbars.

All in all Dark Souls but if you like shooters you just got to play Crysis 2, if only for the hardcore as soundtrack that REALLY makes your blood pumping. Dark Souls is just more my type of thing.

Since I haven't bought any newer games this year then my game of the year is somewhat old - Arma2.
I actually haven't completed any of the missions because I soon delved into the editor and have been playing around there.

If I count the maximum number of hours I've clocked on a game, it would be Minecraft/World of Tanks.

Otherwise, Witcher 2. With Skyrim and Deus Ex Human Revolution a close second and third.

You mean Human Revolution, not Deus Ex. There is nothing Deus Ex-like about that piece of heresy.

Hmm, this is a tough one.

At the moment, I'd have to say Armada 2526 - Supernova. However, Distant Worlds - Legends is starting to give it a real run for its money, and I suspect will continue to do so the more I play it.

Duke Nukem Forever for me. And for a lot of fans of Duke Nukem too, apparently.

While I haven't played a lot of this year's games yet, I can't see any of them managing to unseat Shogun II. In terms of total hours played and surprise "It's not rubbish?! Oh my gosh - it's great!" factor nothing else comes close. It is my favourite strategy game and probably my favourite PC game of all time. Heh, and I only gave it a chance because TosaInu gently nagged me about it!

Worst game? Sword of the Stars II. Or do alpha quality games not count, since we're talking about full releases? :cough: Thank heavens I didn't have the money to preorder it.

Homefront by a LONG way. To think I had the confidence to pre-order it...

Skyrim would have to be the best I think, though I still maintain that Morrowind is the best in the series.

That and the second one were fantastic. It has gone seriously downhill since then. I bought the first three Brother's In Arms the other day on Steam for just this reason - to me they were some of the most fun games simply because the characters had depth and depiction of war was often just brutally honest. It is such a pity that the franchise is moving away from this.

Dark Souls. Beaten it with two characters, and 2/3 of the way with with a third. Mostly fantastic, very fun fighting through with different styles. A worthy successor.
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

I tried playing it through on hard with no cross hair and the home rule that I could only look down the sights if I was kneeling, prone or behind cover. I just hit the wall at one point and couldn't do it. Such a brutally hard game.

Mine as well if I think about, haven't been playing anything else. Ruthless and psycotic but also brilliant. It's mesmerising how the architecture slowly unfolds;'am I here? How?' I'll go against the overall sentiment though, Demon's Souls was harder imho. But I can't think of any way Dark Souls could have better, except the occasional drop of the framerate

Maybe you should add a poll with the suggestions?

Some titles are so obscure that it wouldn't be representative, doubt anyone here but Kekvit played Dungeons of Dredmor while it has a huge fanbase in the hardcore rpg crowd. Can do but I don't see much of a use for it

I have, although more idly messing with than serious playing. I'm not much of a Roguelike fan and DoD is one of the few I don't mind.
