Ai, sorry for missing the vote yesterday (last game day, in any case).
As an apology, for today, let me try and understand the landlubber kerfuffle.
This is all the information I consider to be critical:
- Landlubber, upon first being targeted, says he's a Big 'Un.
- When the lynch votes get serious, he says he's a Free Spirit; his quoted PM says 0.5 vote strength and one kill power increase per two nights per Free Spirit lynch. Not long after adds that everyone who votes for a Free Spirit will become one.
- He dies, appears as a Big 'Un in the write-up.
- He says there was a point to his death, and that he forged the PM (especially the kill power increase.)
- He also says that Chaotix is a Bully (victory when all Little 'Uns die), that he randomly picked Monty and Zack as partners, and didn't plan to get Chaotix in hot water.
- Monty says Chaotix is dangerous to "we the Free Spirits".
- Also says Chaotix saw all communication between landlubber and himself, confirming anything mentioned
- Chaotix told landlubber he was Bully, with victory conditions favoring neither side, asks for alliance.
- Targets Ishmael, while "Free Spirits" go after ATPG.
- Reveals to all that all Little Un's dead is a minor victory, needs town to win for full victory.
- Says he knows that there are two remaining Free Spirits, both of whom are Little 'Uns.
- Explains by above by saying it's "sensible" since the game needs balancing mechanics.
This is what I think it means:
- Chaotix's stated target actually died so the Bully role seems to make sense. The part about knowing about the number and type of remaining Free Spirits seems to be just speculation stated as fact so he can seem more knowledgable.
- Landlubber cocked up in the beginning of the game, decided the best he could do to make up for it is to confuse everyone and so remain important. He's just a straight up Big 'Un with a vengeful heart.
I realise that means I don't really have a strong case against anyone. Montmorency comes off as the most suspicious simply for being in the middle of all of this, not hesitating to point fingers, and not being clear about whether the Chaotix communications were single or double bluffs. I'm happy to change my opinion if any stronger cases appear.

1. Blame landlubber for forwarding the PM to me.
2. What can I say, he was a Serial Killer. Although lynching him was indeed short-sighted.
3. I'm not sure I understand your meaning here. Chaotix's reveal was forwarded to me and Zack by landlubber, who claimed we were his partners to Chaotix. Zack and I went along with it, and Chaotix seemed to buy it. I waited to see whether Ishmael would indeed be killed, and when he was, outed Chaotix as a Serial Killer. It wasn't an overly complicated affair.

So are you a Free Spirit, or are you joking?
scottishranger 21:53 01-21-2012
Gah when I said "lost souls" i meant Free spirits. My apologies.
We are a part of the town.

DAY THREE
The Tribe had reached some kind of tipping point. Several of the Tribe voted to leave Limbo but this was not met with favourable responses from some of the others.
Eventually - after some pointed debate as well as several uncomfortable silences the day drew to a close and the Tribe rose to make its final choice. This day - every member of the tribe made their choice known, even if it was just to point the finger
Having first taken issue with Montmorency, Atheotes was quick to acknowledge his responsibility. To his credit, Montmorency did not blubber or wail - and certainly made no attempt to escape - he knew that it would be futile. Simply settling to his knees he quietly awaited his execution and took some comfort that it should not take more than one blow to finish him. Atheotes, took the huge club from the weapons rack and he made no bones about fulfilling his duty. Montmorency's hopes of survival were dashed into the dust- along with the contents of his skull.

NIGHT THREE
At first it felt as if he had been stung in the neck by one of the many large insectoid beasts that thrummed and buzzed through the evening haze, but as he instinctively reached up, Atheotes felt the fletchings of one of the Tribes' poison darts in his fingers. He tugged the dart from his throat and felt a warm dribble of blood run down his neck. The sound of his heartbeat filled his head and Atheotes sank to his knees - already the deadly poison was taking effect. As his vision began to blur, Atheotes was aware of a figure approaching him.
'You...' was all the Big 'Un could say as he crumpled to the floor racked with cramps.
'Yes' said the figure above him. 'You can die now.'
Atheotes had no choice but to comply.

There's something more to this game setup than just lynching scumbags.
What's with all this "Vote: Leave Limbo" stuff?
And landlubber's bizarre role.
I get the feeling if we just keep doing more or less random lynches we aren't going to get anywhere. I think this may be a host-trap kind of game setup, with a big twist, like Golden Rule or Zack Mafia.
I'm happy to accuse people randomly as I'm expected to but I'd also like to resolve this nagging suspicion I'm supposed to be solving a mystery too.
Also if the answers to this are written in plain sight somewhere, I'll cop to not reading every detail of the game, sorry. Bad townie and all that. I have been sick though.
Well we have at least one mystery to solve - how is ATPG still alive?
Seriously though, I haven't seen any consistent theme or indicative clues in the write-ups, but that may just be because I haven't looked closely enough. Anybody got anything?

You're going to fish my corpse out of the lake in order to lynch me? It's a bit gross, but if you want....
