Default Decoding the Tribal Psychology of Politics

tl;dr A social psychologist named Jonathan Haidt follows in Hume's footsteps in arguing that morality is based more so on intuition ingrained in our heads from evolution and less so on pure reason. You should really read the article though, you lazy person.

I don't really have an opinion on this yet, the field of moral psychology is something alien to me. I don't necessarily agree with his premises and the counterpoints presented in the article feel like strong ones. I would agree with his descriptions of how little liberals understand the conservative mindset than vice versa. Maybe it's just because of my age bracket, but I feel like 99% of people my age just don't get the other side and can't even empathize with them. I have examples but my fingers are tired. What do you all think?

Haidt's only merit is that he's smarter than a bunch of stupid people. But that doesn't make his ideas interesting (or even true though I don't remember the details from when I read him) and so for something interesting I'd recommend skipping it for someone with smart ideas of their own.

Imagining the pseudo-intellectuals listed one after the other in that article writing long serious books makes me nauseous.
