The Wire

Anyone else here seen this show? It's one of HBO's offerings - 5 seasons, ended in 2008. It commonly has a ton of hype for being one of the "greatest shows ever made" and a little under two months ago, I bought into the hype and got the DVD for Season 1.

Fast-forward to now and I'm working my way through Season 4. Count me as a believer. It's really hard to classify the show, at first glance it's an ultra-realistic look at the Baltimore Police Department as they interact with the various problems the city is facing - drugs, smuggling, and the like. But really, it's a lot more than that. Everything is connected, and I absolutely adore how the plotlines just ramp up near the seasons' endings. It's a very intellectual show and really makes you think about things, including just how depressing some real-life problems are and how there aren't any easy solutions. I think considering this, a lot of Orgahs would like it.

Am I the only Wire fan out there?
