May be nobody noticed a very important factor on a battle and on this game...THE WEATHER!...

Rainy days: anybody knows No Firepower
Windy days: Arrows are not good
Sunny days: This is a factor on that Creative Assembly worked very good.
Units against Sun light go slowly, Hot weather (sometimes u get it on Summer) is a problem for CAV and Armor Units.
    Armies get tired faster.

This is only a litlle of i know but if u know more tell us!!!

In winter the naginata freeze in all their metal armour and are very slow, easily exhausted. Same with heavy cavalary in winter, they get tired quickly while yari cavalary take a bit longer to get very tired. Guns can't fire when heavy snow is falling or rain is falling.

ps : with ashigarus they are bloody hopeless in all weather so leave them at home or use them for target practice

Well there's fog, of course, to help the defender hide and the attacker sneak up on him.

I well remember stumbling about all over Mutsu in fog like pea soup looking for the damn Uesegi archers.

Not much use in a river battle, though.

What I want to know is, where's the sudden bolt of lightning that takes out the enemy Daimyo?

The general claimed the troops owed their victory to him, but in truth they knew it was their gift to the general.

Lightning and thunder should lower the morale of all horse riding units since some of the
horses will be terrified by it

mmmm... Storms make both Long Range attack units WEAK... Archers can't target well with a lot amounth of wind and obviously MUSKS will not fire because their POWDER is wet!

Ashigaru too, for that matter! I think the peasantry believe lightning are sparks from Buddha sharpenning His Sword, and thunder is Buddha's expression of anger towards the infidels.

I'm sure you can see how this would rattle their feeble minds...

I didn't notice that there is sunlight direction in STW though. Maybe I just missed it - can somebody kindly describes this phenomenon more?

    Hello,
Heavy fog is good on river crossings as the AI puts some Yari at the river crossing. Just sneak up your archers until they are just in to range and the Yari/Monks/whatever just stand there while the numbers go down. Great way to take out some Monks with no losses. If the crossing still looks impossible you can retire after giving them some horrible losses.
