i do wonder where is sykon (or is this another name for syracuse like depending on who´s talking about the carthaginians they can be called karchedoi poeni punic punii and so forth it seems like everyone had a diferent name for them)
also whats up with elis and they winning so many olimpic competitions ? i mean seriously i strongly suspect doping practices like they drinking birds blood or some other wierd cerimony
also spartans didn´t participate in competitions where they could have their head bashed in where they cowards or just soooooo vain that they where afraid someone could trash their face and women wouldn´t look at them anymore ?
also phyrrus expedition seems dumb i mean as the epirotes if you conquered sparta up to 270bc you should get kleomenes as a mercenary general like the karthies get xanthippos
he went to war with the makedonians because they didn´t sent him suport during the war with the romans so his solution is to loose even more men in a stupid war :\
also he should have consulted the oracle before going i mean he was unable to take a city with no walls and defended by youths and screaming crazy bitches (pardon my french) he didn´t took the hint that luck was not on his side then he looses his firstborn ptolomaiois kills the spartan dude who killed his son and continued instead of taking the hint and getting back home :\
phyrrus was undoutably a great military tactical genius but his views and knowledge of strategy was surelly lacking like it was proven when he "liberated" sicily without assuring their suport in the war against the romani in megales hellas he should have sticked with the war in makedonia kill the kelts who had looted aigai and declare himself soter of all the hellenes in the balkans surelly would have been a far better decision then going to the pelloponesos wich was a poor land who couldn´t yield him much profit and was hard to conquer by both the geography of the damm thing as well as their historically unrully populace (including the spartans)
if he had stayed in makedonia secure his position there and then reenforçed by the makedonians he could march south trough thessally and face off against antigonos from a far better position and be seen as a liberator instead of a halfwitt morron who couldn´t take a city defended by women and children while showing himself as just another conqueror barbaric alexandros wannabe
also even if he had conquered sparta what next ? kleomenes would be reinstated as king but then areus would return from krete and where would the surviving spartans stand ? taking sparta would have been a bigger burden then loosing it the way he did it since keeping kleomenes as king would mean he would leave a strong garrison to keep the helots in check and provide some protection against the ephorian knifes
A Carthaginian fleet sails to Taras, but leaves without initiating any hostilities.
sadly the kart hadasti respected the roman influence circle unlike the romans did with the karthies sphere of influence
the founding on ankyra (is it ankara the current capital of the turkomans ? )
as for the romans who was livius andronicus ? and dentatus seems to have been one of those nuovo uomini
