His relatively late arrival in the first phase, coupled with that post made me think that he did not receive the same PM that I got reminding people that the game had started. Joke posts provide a barrier for the mafia. Townies post up jokes then the mafia can just follow the stupid bandwagons, like the one that was being followed by the majority of people on the second day, and thus hide. So joke posts are stupid and should be cut out. Does that mean that the people who post them should be lynched? No. Of course not, that would be ridiculous. Instead people should stop them of their own volition for the good of the town.
