    Default Comparing RotS with FotS

I haven't played Shogun2 in quite a while but recently noticed the new campaigns. If I were to invest some time in getting up to speed with and playing one of the new campaigns, which would people recommend?

IMO I think the important question is: what style of combat do you prefer? If you like guns and artillery, FotS. If you prefer swords and bows, RotS. The two eras play very differently and if you're not into the style of warfare the campaign loses a good part of its attraction. It's not as enjoyable when you need to play battles you find boring, or skip them all with auto-calc.

If you have no preference, RotS is cheaper by a good margin and should keep you busy until FotS hits the summer sales.

FotS has a truckload of new stuff and fancy eyecandy and units, while RotS (imo) has better actual gameplay (talking about battles here, campaigns are really the same anyways).

What annoys me about RotS is a huge lack of diverse units, some of which FotS has too many (like 1794567 different kinds of line infantry, where 5-6 probably would have gotten the whole hey, we have guns now =D thing across).
