Thread: Any ideas for a new keyboard?

Default Any ideas for a new keyboard?

So I'm after a new keyboard, right now I have a Microsoft Multimedia 1.1 and a Logitech Revolution MX.

I'm quite happy with the mouse although it can freeze up now and then but I'm fed up of not being able to control Itunes when I'm playing games by using the media keys, so, any ideas, up to about £50 or so would be about as much as I want to spend. It must be wireless as I like to relax in my big comfy chair with the keyboard on my lap, no more than 1m from the receiver, but apart from that anything goes.

    Thanks in advance

I've had good experiences with Saitek keyboards. Among other things, they're extremely programmable. Lots of people sweat by Logitech, too.

I have a logictech G11 that I'm pretty happy with. It has multimedia player control keys along the top.

But I try not to sweat by it.

And a darn good thing. Gah. Typos will yip at my heels until I am too exhausted to run any further, at which point they will circle and attack, rending my flesh.

So, I went for the Cyborg V5 as it was within my price range. Nice keyboard but still can't control itunes while ingame, but apart from that it seems quite good

Looks like it has good reviews. Well done, Padewan! The minichlorians must be numerous in you!

Got curious. Looks like you can re-program the function keys to perform whatever macro pleases you. So in theory, at least, you should be able to control iTunes. Just might take some elbow grease. Tried to find a PDF-style manual for macro programming on the Saitek website, no luck. Your mileage may vary.

Another very useful feature is the reprogrammable Function Keys. You can download and install software from the Saitek Cyborg website. This feature comes in use when you are playing games or even if you need to customize the functions of the regular function keys. You can always change what you dislike.
