Out of curiousity, how did people choose their avatars and signitures?

I chose an Ashigaru with a gun partly out of sympathy for the underdog (having a gun maybe gives him a chance against a samurai) and partly because I find the arrival of guns one of the interesting parts of STW.

I chose my quote from Arthur Conan Doyle as a reminder that we cannot understand history unless we bear in mind how different things look in different time periods and cultures. For instance, sometimes we judge the actions of others by standards that would not even make sense in their culture, and miss the whole point of what they did. Besides, history is more interesting when it opens your mind to a whole new way (or perhaps I should say old way) of seeing things.

I thought it would be cool to have a Native American avatar and I liked this one the most out of all of them. I've grown to like it even more after using it because I feel like it fits my personality pretty well and it even sort of looks like me in real life. I don't have a signature because I can't decide what I would put in it.

Mine is Ana Ivanovic, a total tennis babe. That should be reason enough to have her as my avatar.

I chose mine because I enjoyed to look of the avatar and the pose of the man portrayed within it. I also wanted a regular member avatar as I am no longer being a moderator and should no longer wear one of those. It is also an ETW avatar and you see less of them here than some other ones floating around. Also, it is the one I used before my moderatorship and I thought I would use it again after said moderatorship ended.

The signature, I thought it was about time to put my beloved Judy Garland to rest. She still hangs on my wall tenfold right where I can look upon her so why have her in my signature anymore. Instead, I thought I would celebrate my love for electronic cigarettes and the freedom from a two pack a day cigarette habit that ended almost one year ago (July 4th...independance day, heh heh). The ecigs are the two I use. 3-6 volt devices (variable voltage). The green one is my portable device while the blue one is a passthru (plugs into the wall) that I use at home. There is a nice 4.8 volt at 2.5 ohm exhale in the middle. :D Vape on my brothers (and sisters)!

For my name I chose the lowliest unit it the game I was playing at that time (MTW) and made an alliteration with it. Not being a native English speaker I misspelled Phil.

I've had several avatars so far. Made 2 of them myself. For now, I'm sticking with this one. It really brings out the color of my eyes.

My signature has also changed multiple times. At the moment I kind of use it as a small billboard so it'll probably change again very soon.
