Default The War of the Roses

I've been watching this one for a while now, going to start harassing developers soon, seems like a charm. Especially for all Mount&Blade fans.

I am very interested in this game. Combat mechanics look very good. It has a loadout menu with a lot of options to customize your kit.

Looks like Paradox is one of those publishers who look more at quality than quantity.

When I first saw the title and publisher of this game I thought it would be a CK2 style strategy game focused on the Wars of the Roses. Awesome!

Then I opened the news article and saw it was a Mount & Blade style game. My excitement dimmed, but I was still reasonably interested.

In the second paragraph the article featured the dread words "Multiplayer only"

Well, maybe they will do a SP mode expansion later.

    Probably not.

Nice graphics, but I've been unimpressed by the actual gameplay I've seen. I don't see it surpassing Warband for medieval combat.

I watched the video that GC linked some month ago, and was amazed. Mind you, this is some pre-alpha footage, and it already looks much better than the Warband for medieval combat. Looks, mind you, better graphic and animation, it still remains to be seen on how good it actually plays. But I am certain it will be at least a couple of steps ahead of M&B.

Lady frog, if you watch the second video in this thread, the pre-alpha footage, you will see that there is a single player portion. Remains to be seen just how much SP will there be.

Its up on Steam for preorder now. If you own a Mount and Blade game you get 20% off.

This game looks fantastic, but I am worried that it wont be worth the $24.

Though the fact that the devs said that there will be a lot of free content based on community votes makes it sound promising. Might even preorder it.

I got the access to beta last week, and since I am not bound by NDA, I'll be posting about it soon. Seriously considering making a video, only not sure if it will be one with a commentary or not.

I will. Preliminary gut feeling? If you liked Mount and Blade, you will like War of Roses, as simple as that.

A short preview of War of the Roses, current beta 9.01 build. Open for questions.

Also, a video of gameplay. No comments on this one, only elementary editing, haven't done a video in ages and used Windows Movie Maker on this, and it fooled me spitting it out in a poor rez, without me figuring it out in time. Back to Adobe Pro for the next project then.

Talk about it among you, yes (chat, IM's and alike), but no forum posting, no images, no videos. I for one hope you are liking it, I am really curious about the reaction of the community.

No idea, I intentionally avoided reading about it, wanted to be surprised by the game.

However, don't think SP will be in the range and scope of Mount&Blade games.
