Check out the Starbase Orion for iPad review here.
In short, this is a game that you must try out and a must have if you are a 4x turn-based strategy fan.

...Unless one does not have an iPad, of course.![]()
That being said, I've heard it's good.

Haven't steered me wrong (especially with Avernum) so far so I'll try it, never played a 4x4 how hard is it to get into if you are a total newbie

Got to second Voigtkampf's glowing recommendation. I've been playing this off and on since last year, and it's a very good game. MOO2 portable. That's it in a nutshell. Easy to pick up, easy to get lost in, easy to drain your entire battery on. Very fully featured, lots of replay value.
The developer has been extremely dedicated to supporting it - it's had so many tweaks, additions and fixes that its current form is practically a sequel to the game I originally purchased! It's one of very few games which makes me feel iOS gaming can provide valid gaming experiences for demanding frogs like myself. I've probably put more hours into this one game than I have the combined total for my iOS library.
I've been playing it on my ipod. It can be a bit tricky to activate certain buttons, but that's not really a problem as the game is turn based. There are occasions when I'm playing and start thinking about how nice it would be to have that larger screen ... then I remember the insane ipad price tag and fact this is only one game, and that's the end of that!
Frogbeastegg's Guide to Total War: Shogun II. Please note that the guide is not up-to-date for the latest patch.
Ipod can do games wut
SHIPS DON'T MOVE
I can't conquer the universe like this. Like the looks of this though. Nice simple spartan graphics, nice artwork
Build ship. Ship appears in orbit. Tap on ship. Red circle start swirling to mark that ships have been selected. Tap on the destination system. Ships will move if the system is in their reach (pop up will inform you if they are too far for your fuel reserves).
As for the ships not moving in combat, as it says in review, you give the ships orders at the beginning of the fight and then leave combat setting. When you hit turn, the fight will be executed and you will be able to check out the results at the end of turn and view the footage of the combat.
Visually, the game has that awesome early 90's touch from the original Master of Orion 2.
