Default I think this thread will make you happy.

    http://games.on.net/article/15957/To...inly_Happening

And like the article says, July 6th-7th appears to be when the next title will be announced.

Personally, I haven't posted on these forums in a WHILE. But I check weekly for news such as this, and am very eager

EDIT: More, as to not appear as spam:

It really does, let's see if they learn something from EB, they certainly can't say it eluded their attention.

I have high hopes for this!

I can't wait, and I really hope they try to be a little more historically correct this time.

The CA don´t have to invest all too much in authencity or historical correctness. All they have to do is to create a descent running, stabile game with up to date graphic engine, capable of using multicore processors ( the more, the better ). But that engine should be comfortably modable, so that moding teams might etid it to their gusto. This would save a lot of money for the corporataion and, at the same time, make fans of the game happy. They might sale the unmodable basic game first, while releasinig kind of tuning tool for the engine as DLC later ( an additional profit for CA, made for those, who want more ).

    sounds like speculation to me

anyway even if it´s true i doubt it will be better then the original europa barborum

i just hope they create a better game engine wich allows artists to develop it further
maybe add some more serious internet waygames so we can eventually retrace history and everyone of us can start with an independent city state in central italy or hellas and start from there (ofc it would all be solved with auto calc and you only had to login once a day to decide whats your "empire" next step )

I can't follow why people are so excited about RTW2 (or TW:R2 or whatever). RTW Vanilla was abomination; only the mods of great depth made it more than superficially playable. And - with all due respect to the efforts of the modders of ETW, NTW and TW:S2 - the limitations to modding of the recent titles just don't allow a transformation into greatness like it was possible in RTW and M2TW.

Don't get me wrong, Rome 2 Vanilla will certainly be much better than RTW Vanilla: I consider Shogun 2 CA's best Vanilla game yet and I expect that Rome 2 will hold up to that standard. However, that is not the standard that made me spend thousands of hours with RTW and M2TW, RTW-mokds and M2TW-mods, to be precise.

Rome 2 would be a fine game, but - mark my words - only serve to disappoint.

I think, and the reason I chose to post this info in this sub-forum, that most people do look forward to the next EB as opposed to RTW2 itself.

I mean come on..even if it was the exact same game at least it will have naval battles

That's just the thing: There will never be something like EB for Rome 2. Ever.

I not excited for Rome 2 Total War or whatever you call (Thanks Sega for making confusing titles) Because i pretty sure the game would be less modable that the previous game, just look how each title becomes more restricted to mod, even with upgrade graphics, naval battle, i still wait for EB 2 just for the historical accuracy since CA doesn't give a shit about historical accuracy, and instead it will be a bunch of DLC like special units DLC, Extra blood DLC, previously exclusive content DLC, damn i miss the old days where you just get the full game and not just a 70% full game with 20% DLC and 10% exclusive content, even the expansions are worth a lot that a overpriced DLC

Ah I just wanted to post this pictures too but Fluvius Camillus was faster :) . Although it will not be like EB I have to say that these two screenshots look very good, and I am kind of curious how the final game will be.

i confirmed it on my gaming website strategyinformer

well i hope this game will be more moder friendly and give more options better ai (both combat and strategy ai ) i hope it allows for the creation of subfactions inside a single faction (pretty usefull for the eleutheroi like give the hability for a region to retain 80% of the cash it makes to develop it´s infrastructure and military so regions with more power get to be more powerfull isntead of having it all dissipated by the poor eleitheroi regions wich where never important enough)

i hope for a true political module where how your society is organised reflects on how much manpower and it´s quality is available to you (like you play a germanic faction your faction leader becomes too powerfull and threatons to become a king and he gets strangled )

i also hope it allows for the limitation of recruitment slots so that only the greatest generals can have more then 8 regiments on it´s armies (a bad general could only recruit/maintain 4 regiments on his stack) that can give a great rpg strategy aspect to the game that forçes you to develop your generals generalship instead of keeping him safelly tucked away (ofc this wouldn´t work in a city where you could keep a full stack but once your out depending on the general you had a limited stack )

the eye candy is nice and all that but it´s the same as getting lucky and picking the cutest girl in the party only to discover the next day that she doesn´t have matching eye colour becaue she lost her green eye contact lense and all of a suden her beautifull face is right there on your pillow because her face was actually makeup and her hairdress is all messed up and she as crappy oiled skin and is actually ugly as hell bellow the makeup (and yes i´m well aware i didn´t mention the silicone all over her body from her lips down to her ass and tights )

This thread makes me sad and bitter because from the trailer it's clear that Rome 2 will be a playable Spartacus: Blood and Sand. And this is bad. Very Bad.

EDIT: And all the babble about "cinematic" and "drama" just make me more angry.

The quote "How far will you go for Rome" gives me the feeling it will be even more Romano-centric than Rome 1.

But for the other stuff, you haven't seen a single actual in-game screen from the strategy map or battle map, way too soon too tell how it will be like.

Something that annoys me aswell. I just hope one will be able to interpret: how far will you go to sack rome.

A very interesting (and at times somewhat contradictory) read : EuroGamer.Net article with Mike Simpson

This was posted over in the EBII forum, but a quick excerpt:

" "We haven't really fleshed out what we can and can't do from a modding point of view," Simpson went on. "We're going to spend some more time actually talking to the modder groups and try to come up with a plan that actually delivers them what they need rather than what we think they need, which isn't necessarily the same thing."

To that end, Creative Assembly has organised a modding summit at Total War HQ in Horsham, England. That's next month. Key modders from the community will be invited and both parties will work together for mutual gain.

The general concept behind the game is already clear IMO: from the images, the trailer and the interview released so far seems very likely that the game will be "cinematic" and "dramatic" in the way of the most recent pseudo-historical movies and series, and that historical accuracy will once again be considered a minor nuisance.

I hope I will be wrong, but I have a feeling I'll be right.

Of course, "cinematic" and "dramatic" won't necessarily mean "historically inaccurate". All movies are not made in Hollywood. Besides, after vanilla RTW-barbarians, anything is going to be an improvement.

Default Re: I think this thread will make you happy.

the question is how much of an improvement they kept promissing better but except for the eye candy (wich i might add screw up my old computer ) the game continues to go dumber and dumber it´s like playing duke nukem where you just push the trigger instead of actually having to think and develop a proper strategy for economical growth military organisation (wich also includes knowing how many units you can afford to have and where to place them ) and diplomatic policy

i´m begging to think that eb should play a gambit and make a contract with ca/sega where they give what they got sega promisses to add into their engines the limitations that the eb team desires and sega can have 3 playable modes arcade campaign and historicall accurate/nerdplay/nitpickers (imagine no faction limits no region limits no unit limits )

Can you see the difference between "cinematic and dramatic" and "cinematic and dramatic like Gladiator and Spartacus: Blood and Sand"? Because IMO these are the sources of ispiration of R2:TW.

I thought it was clear what I meant in my previous post.

It's how the game has been presented so far that troubles me.

You see, there is already way too much emphasis on eye candy and hollywood stereotypes, so I don't feel optimistic a bit about the final result.

EDIT: And BTW I have yet to see a historically accurate movie.
