The entire dutch league is now basically a feeder league for the bigger leagues... It's no use producing a ton of great footballers if they're all sold before they can play a full season...

Also, no 8-year old bases his love for a club directly on results... A team can be as crappy as all hell, a proper fan will still love the club unconditionally(I have personal experience as a fan of a crappy team...).

Ajax are one of the greatest football clubs in history, their side of the 70s redefined the game and the '95 Champion's League winning side was fantastic. The fact they haven't been able to maintain success on a European level is simply down to the money flooding the bigger leagues from tv deals and the like. A football fan who doesn't know Ajax is not a football fan at all.

I'd say it's more likely that the 8-year old City-supporter made his choice due to seeing Aguero, Tevez, Silva, etc play...

Plenty of football fans have been created by seeing just one great goal... City has had quite a few of those...

Being a fan of Vojvodina (screw Ajax, if you haven't heard about this team, you don't know anything about football), my last reason to celebrate come in 1989 and it wasn't worth much, since I was 7. Nothing since then. Not even a lousy cup. And having to endure taunts from Belgrade pricks adds insult to injury.
