Brutii empire

[Myth]

Hi there, you can check this save of mine.

Why is it interesting? Well for starters it's a strong Roman save past the inital turns (if you find them boring and want an empire ready to spew elite armies out, and yet it's only 25 years after the start).

- Marian reforms in the year 249 BC
- Brutii hold Carthage, Sicilly, most of Greece and 3 wonders
- Scipii severely underpowered due to no available territories for the Ai to expand
- Julii making slow progress in Gaul
- The Seleucid Empire has fallen, and I did not use toggle_fow to see why. I assume it's Egypt's doing

Now with the reforms reached, the Ai should get massive boosts and start expanding, but where can the Scipii go? Will they dare attack mighty Egypt? What will the player faction do?

I've started a campaing on VH/VH a week ago, I'll tell everything which have happen.

The senate ask me to take patavium (I was going anyway) so begins a war against gauls, I've allied with spanish and looking for traderights around the world, the gauls quickly make alliance with Britons/Germans and ask them to attack me on very beginning just 2 - 6 turns later... I've no choice unless fight them back... I was conquer his lands till greeks attack me 3 times... first one the senate was defended me, the 2 times they didn't anything so I've protect my own ass...

After I was with almost all gauls lands, 50 - 70% german and 40% britania, the brutis start a campaing against greeks, which was taking his lands and they didn't revide the attack back or even defend theyself, and still send a legion against my city but din't attacked me.

The germans and britinish tried ceasefire with me after I win a heroic battle against gauls, and I toke 2.000 denaris from each one, and start huting they down on next turn... When I finnaly conquer German/Gaul and Britinish (232BC I think) territorys Bruti was with half Greek lands, going to macedonia, Scipii was with all or almost all carthage lands from desert... So I was wanting getting ready for civil war... And start a campaing on against Spanish (my old allied useless) which have lose 2 towns to carthage, I've taken Spanish lands and carthage remains lands here, and finished the carthage on palma city... After that I toke numandias citys, till patriah offer ally with me, he also is ally with egyph faction, so I've used this advange to move 6 full legions to egyph without to worry they stop me on middle of way... So my legions are split on egyph for a new campaing against them and on italy, desert and near barbarian lands... Brutti have made a alliance with dacians and made them became protectorate so I've no choose unless kill them and I did, the brutis killed thrace and conquer his lands, also start a war against scycilians I've took his last 2 citys and brutti take 2, After, on middle of this I've start a war against Egyph as well (canceling a alliance with patriah before), and was killing them really easily also the pontus was taking his cities too...

So Scipii wans't expanding anymore because I go to egyph before than they, and bruttis dind't go more futher because patriah was my allied and senate don't allow it... While I was killing Egyph, pontus have taken many of his cities, and killed armenia, he was with all eastern lands, on this point (probabbly killed leucid too) so brutis have start a campaing against them, I couldn't allow they be more stronger so I've no choise unless kill them as well, I take all citys from eygph they're holding and rush for the islands which bruttis are coming from to stop em... till I was massacreting pontus, they still toke 2 patriah cities (oh my god) and then patriah survives with 4 cities, I was really wanting babylonia so I started a war, no on 195BC patriah survives with his last city I've 2 legions to take this city and he have a low army on it... I've 8 legions on italiy and will send 8 back to italy, 2 on desert and 6 legions near brutti citys on barbarian lands... I'm over than 70 territorys almost ready to begin my desiraded civil war...

Just for a resume of what is happening now...

Scippi have 14 legions on italy, brutti have 5, and rest of his army around the barbarian lands and near some of my cities which are well defended... I've above than 70 territorys, bruttis have 17 and the score ranting point him with 2x bigger army than mine... scippi with 14 legions with half army than mine so it's already 2.5x than me... I'm still have to retreat some troops from easternlands and still making troops everyround I'm making a huge stacks of wardogs now, I want at least 6 stacks of them mixed, because them are so cheap and extremly deadly against light troops (but useless against heavy) so is it, only 1 citie of patriah remains alive and will finish him off this turn... after that will wait my armys back and then be the supreme conqueror once for all...

Only on 189 BC my army could match Brutiis armys in number, and even so there's the scipii and I've many pesants to make a garison so I didn't really matched the number, on 185BC I've started the civil war, I've put 7 cities under siege, blocked 9 ports and will be more on next turn (attacking scipii and brutis at same time) I've won 1 battle against scipii and 3 against brutti, and I've skipped my turn...

Bruttis turn, he had a army very well splited around the barbarian lands and greek lands, so he had attacked from many lands, I've lost 40% of the fights with my infatary composed by my first legions (13 early legionary and 6 bowmans) the arrows didn't penetrate the enemy armor and their units are far more stronger and resistant... part of this is because it's a VH/VH and anouther part is because his experience on units against virgin experience units mine... So I've lost 40% of battles and 1 city under siegue, but I've won a battle with a full stack of heavy cavalary (1.900 I think) against 6.600 bruttis army on same battle, that's a "heroic vitory" pretty good, because I've clean all his troops on italy... He have skiped...

Scipii turn... He was with 14 legions on italy and I've send my heavy cavalary to kill bruttis army, I though I was going to lose many legions on this turn, he start striking my legion composed by 13 legionary + 6 archer + a full stack of wardogs behind blocking the passage to my lands around some montains, this terrain give me a high ground advange very well used I should say... The first strike was a very respectable legion composed by many pretorians and legionarys I won, the second and third I've won but I've lose 11 stacks of legionarys and 1 of archer, the first three was very strong I should say... The number 4,5,6,7 was weak legions but even so I was lacking with mens (Yeah I won 7 legions till now, for the cost of half stack of archer and 1 legionary) the legion number 7 my last legionary squad did a really heroic act, I never seen a so good unit inspired and fighting like a real leons like that before... I was without a family general and they hold like 600 infatary alone and only rout when his numbers come under 20 units, they have stand very very very well and cause of that we won this fight...

The legion number 8 came with 4 stacks of cavalry 1 pretorian and rest of hestasi, principe and triarii, I was with 4,5 archers and 20 unit of legionarys left + some wardogs behind...

This battle was dramatic because my legionarys have stand till last man without run, my archers have used every single arrow for first time I was out ammo, and I've used every single dog and even so the enemy didn't stop to advance foward, then I have no more place to retreat and get a better position the enemy just start to fall back and retreat I think it's because I was with better percentages of win and he got only 2 stacks on top of the mointain but he should surely win easily... Anyway I thank him for his stupiness... so I've beaten 8 legions with only 1 legion + 1 legion support of wardogs... I think it's a very impressive number if you want my opnion, and the scipii have skip their turn...

Now rome is attacking me and will get my turn back on next turn, the interesing thing is he was neutural to me, I've started the war attacking brutti and scipii not him... But whatever...

Ps: Ins't a bit wierd I tell my julli tales, when the topic is about brutii history? If you want I can stop now... :P

Just add new considerations

Archers: They are extremly useless on normal ground against such heavy armored infatary units, but on high ground with a extremly larger range the arrows looks penetrate so easly on all kind of armors they are killing killing killing killing and killing like a child eat candies.

Wardogs: Even the light armor type of hastasi and auxilia is too strong for them (high defence stats), they almost don't do anything on battlefield against such heavy armored units, TILL they get tired, very tired or exausted, when this happen be ready for a carnage! Because even the mighly and powerfull pretoian cohort will fall under dogs teths...
