I thought the US used a different way of counting medals from every other country so they're guaranteed to win. They count the total number of medals not the number of golds which trump the silver and bronzes like every other country.

Tunisia 1 each type... 10 million people so that would be ~ 30 gold, silver and bronze scaling up to 300 million people
Denmark 2 Golds, 6 million people so that would be 100 gold medals at 300 million people. Looks like mileage isn't so hot now.
Australia 7 gold, 22 million people... ~95 gold at 300 million people
New Zealand 5 gold, 4.4 million people ... ~ 330 gold at 300 million people. And as usual they did most of theirs sitting down.
