No, it's not exactly what people asked for. When people ask for a PC port they usually want all the standard options any other PC title offers, like higher resolution and a crisper image. The argument about it being impossible to emulate a PS3 game is really bad, there are countless games that run well on both platforms. Of course it has to be done right and they couldn't do that. But sometimes it's better not to promise something at all if you can't do it right.

What do you think the PS 3 community would do if someone promised them a port of a PC strategy game and then said they have to connect a mouse and keyboard to play because the PS3 controller isn't supported?

It isn't build to run on a pc, it would have to build from scratch and it's a game only a few people will enjoy. With a game like Crysis 3 you can expect the pc version to have all the ohgawdyes because it's designed to run on whatever supermodel you lovingly oil up, but this just a port of a 2 year old game designed to run on relatively ancient tech.

    Asked, got it

    This.
Not porting it would've caused back lash and lot of ill will, but a bad port sold at the price of a regular game, is even worse.

Except that it's not sold at full price, and it's not a bad port it's a better version. It's just dated by today's graphical standards for the pc. Any console-game is, don't want it don't ask for it, but asking for it they did.

I'd say 40 bucks is fully rounded price, or in the least it cannot be considered cheap.
I personally don't care a jot about the graphics, but I want my keyboard and mouse to work properly.

All that said I don't say that everything the PC crowd did was correct. But then some degree of fault lies with the creators too.

I really can't see this working with a keyboard and mouse, you are going to need all the precision of a gamepad or there will only be tears. There will only be tears anyway by the way, will be waiting for the ramblings on every decesion being final without any way to quiksave whatsoever.

40 bucks is a steal from the trembling hands of the granny you took it from by the way, this game is huge

    A mouse is precise.

A keyboard isn't, you are going to need the analogue control over your movement, keyboard and mouse ristrics you to forward and backward, in this game you also need just a little bit forward and backward, it's a subtle dance of death that can't be done without analogue control
