    Default Sleeping dogs

I've read some excellent reviews about this game and as a GTA fan, it certainly appeals to me.

Anyone here already has it? Are the reviews all lies or is this game really as awesome as they say?

On my "to do" list. I've heard good things, is supposedly a very decent port to PC, unlike Darksiders 2.

Heard great things about it. I can't stand the GTA-games so it's probably not for me, but friend of mine is sure to buy it

To quote something I just posted in a private message to someone enquiring about the game:

It gives me strong Deus Ex feelings. To whit:
Hey! The PC port is half the price of the console version at launch!
Hey! It's meant to be a good PC port!
Hey! The game's supposed to be good!
Hey! This intro is quite good!
Hey! This is quite a striking game, visually!
    Hey! It hard-locked my PC!
It's by the same publisher. Square-Enix. I'm still waiting for them to patch my copy of Deus Ex into playable form. I checked various forums before purchasing and no one reported tech problems. After the crash I checked the steam forums. It was full of people complaining about the same issue. Now I recall why I started checking the steam forums before purchasing a PC game! This is the first time in ages that I neglected to do so.

I picked it up because it sounded like Yakuza's world plus Assassins Creed's mobility by way of Arkham Asylum's combat and a story which, based on some spoilers, might be intriguing. There's a side-order of Just Cause 2 served with it. It's supposed to be quite easy, and if you don't fancy following the plot there's a good bit of side material to indulge in. It sounded like a good game to unwind with after a long day at work.

For the record, I loathed GTA4. Every single thing about it. The only good Rockstar game IMO is Bully, and that still has some big problems.

Now to see if I can get it working ...

IMO GTA IV was fine. It's just that the story begins to....drag a bit around the halfway point. I never actually managed to finish the game. Just watched the ending I would've picked on Youtube.

TBoGT on the other hand, was completely awesome.

I'm with Lady Frog, GTA IV is awful. GTA III and San Andreas were always where it was at!

I'm interested in getting this on the next steam sale, looks like a good $10 game.

Game's had a patch. I've tried every nvidea driver set from this year, and every other logical solution. It still hardlocks my entire PC after about 10 minutes. It's a widespread, known problem across a wide range of PC configurations and it looks like those of us who are affected will have to wait for the developers to patch it. Yay.

You should, it's much more clever than you would expect it to be. It's incredibly violent but all the violence serves to make you really really uncomfortable with it, it's certainly no torture porn, more anti really

That's the thing - I really do not like ultra-violence in anything, be it game, film or book. The game makes me plenty uncomfortable without playing a minute of it.

It serves a purpose in Manhunt. It's not mindlessly violent it kinda makes a point

Got the game today, and played it for a bit. Quite enjoyable so far, haven't seen a gun yet, which is quite refreshing. The melee combat has been widely compared to the Arkham games, it's slightly simpler and not quite as fun, but it's still better than most open world games. The environment attacks are pretty good, though they are starting to get repetitive already, hopefully there are more as the game goes on. Graphics on PS3 are passable, the voice work is very good so far. Seem to be a decent amount to do, main story missions, cop missions (only 4, though they seem to be a decent length, I've done two parts of the first one already), favours (which raise your "face", your rep with the people in Hong Kong), car thefts, races and I think there's one more I've forgotten. I'll post more when I'm further in. For the record, I found GTA4 pretty disappointing, I'm probably enjoying this more so far.

OK. I got the game. And I keep on crashing before the game even loads. How do I fix this? I've searched everywhere, and nothing seems to work.
