Congrats, Vuk! I too am working a "meh" job, but I'm still happy to have it after over a year of unemployment, so I know that of which you speak.

Glad to hear things are working out for you Vuk. I left that kind of job recently, it's not as bad as people say it is, as long as you have a half-decent manager.

Garbage truck wasfun, what does it matter. The job I most enjoyed was a demolition job, really hard work. Throwing away 5 tiles at a time. I prefer doing that over talking smart really.

I guess it just depends on the location. When I was going through school I worked at another store of the same chain that was attached to a truckstop/convenience store right at the exit of a freeway. We got insanely busy all the time, but a lot of the people were a lot of fun to work with and we had some good times. (despite a manager from hell)
At my store it is easier in some ways because we have a much nicer manager, but most of the people are very boring and don't talk a lot. The one I work at now is also absurdly slow (though many of the employees consider it fast paced) and much larger than the one I used to work at, so it is pretty boring. Most nights we have three consecutive 0 sale hours. That said though, I am a considerably faster and more accurate worker than most here (mostly due to my experience at the other place), so I may soon be a shift manager.

I am not going to be doing this for the rest of my life (hopefully not much longer), but I am at least grateful I got it. I know too many people who cannot find any employment at all.

Working really hard was great fun, everybody took pleasure in doing as much as humanly possible. You are absolutely destroyed at the end of the day but it's pretty fun.

That's not what I want to do with my life. I want to be self-employed. I am gonna try to climb as high as I can here, but am always looking for a better job. As soon as I can save up the dosh to open my own business, I am going to.

I prefer hard work as well (my first job was clearing forested areas into camp sites at a horse camp), but I can't do that anymore with my ankle. I can barely do fast-food. That's why I want to be self-employed in a business where I can use my hands and not have to constantly be lifting, pulling, or pushing heavy things. lol

Well I've never had a smart office job so I don't know what it's like, but I imagine I might be the same as yourself, I would prefer something a bit more hands on.
